TO THE PATRONS OF
PERRY DAVIS’
VEGETABLEMIN KILLEB.
OWING to the large amount of Counterfeit Pain Killei put
up and sold as genuine by unprincipled men, we have
been obliged to resort to very expensive measures to protect
ourseivespecuniarily, and tb'e public from great injury, by
buying and using their worthless counterfeits. Tne compar
ative plain and simple style in which our Pain Killer has
beeh put up, has made it very ea*y for those disposed,to im
itate it very successfully, as far as its external app arance,
in style of bc-ttle, label, and color of the article; but we need
not say that the compound is a miserable, filthy production,
and calculated to do great injury’ to those who might use it
with the confidence they have been accustomed to use the
genuine Pain Killer. Parties whose business :t is to counter
feit valuable preparations, do it in such a secret manner, that
It is almost useless to attempt to punish th m by legal meas
ures, as it is difficult, and wo might say impossible to bring
the proof home to them.
Considering the great difficulty in protecting ourselves and
the public by prosecuting parties, we have been to a very
great expense in getting up a finely executed
STEEL ENGRAVED LABEL,
for oar bottles. We also attach to our bottles a [Steel Engra
ved note of hand, which we issue as our obligation and the
counterfeit which is held io be forgery by the laws of the
United States, and which parties will not dare attempt to do.
The great expense attending the getting up and priming of
these labels, will prevent the attempt to counterfeit us se
curing to the public that the article they purchase islbegen
uinePerry Davis’ Pain Killer, manufactured by Perry Davis
& Bon, Sole Proprietors,
The Pain Killer will be put up in anew style offpanel bot
tle, with the words
DAVIS’ VEGET ABLE PAIN KILLER,
blown in the Glas3. We have dipcontinued the use o
the cent bottles and now put up only four nizes
viz— !2Xf cents, 25 cents, 50 cents, and sl, per bottle
We have also a very fine Engraving on ttoue, for the Box
labels, specifying the ccrtenis of the box, where and by
whom manufactured, Ac. We have also added to our Pam
phetof directions and certificates, a cover beautitullv finish
ed, presenting on the first page a very excellent likeness of
Perry Davis, the original inventor of the Pain Killer. The
bottle labels, and ©ne label on each box. has ako a correct
likeness of Perry Davis, which it wiil be imp: ssihle to coun
terfeit successfully.
We have been to this expense, that the public might have
perfect confidence that they we r e getting the genuii e article
when they buy a bott e “as above described. To those who
have so long used at.d pro vets the n.< rits of our aiti< e. we
would say tiiat weshali continue to prepare our Pain Hitler
ot the best and purest material?, and that it shall he every
way worthy of their approbation as a tami'y n tdiciie
