Interesting from Washington. OUR RELATIONS WITH STAIN—TIIE DILLON CASE. Washington. June 2G,1855. Since my communication of yesterday I have been ena bled to obtain some more specific information regarding tho purport of Mr. Mason’s last despatches to the govern ment. It appears that the diplomatic correspondence, which has taken’ place between our Minister at l’aris and Count Walewcski, hat relation principally to the unsettled difliculty existing between this country and Trance in connection with the arrest of M. Dillon,’ the French Consul at San Francisco. Count Wale week i, it ap pears, still insists upon the original redress demanded by diis government—that of saluting with a salvo of one hun dred guns iho Consul's (lag. The President, Goa. Davis, and some other membcis of the administration, are oppos ed to this concession being made, hut Marcy is in favor of it. Ile (motes in support of his opinion the precedent es tablished in the instance of the Spanish Consul at New Orleans, although l confess 1 cannot see much analogy be tween the two cases. Some warm discussions and alter* cations have taken place in the Cabinet orftlio subject. Iron for tho State Road. We notice by the Savannah papers of Wednesday, that the Bark Charles Keen, from Cardiff, Wales, to Messrs. I’addleford fc Fay, arrived in .Savannah, Tuesday, having onboard eight hundred tons of iron for the Western and Atlant’C Kail Road. * * - Corn Falling.—The Montgomery (Ala.) Advertiser of Tuesday last, says: “Corn was offered at 80 cents per bushel — and seemed to go a begging at that. It will soon, we think, he down at the old Jive and let live price, fifty cents.” From the Journal &. Messenger Extra, June2B. PLATFORM AND PRINCIPLES OF THE AMERICAN PARTY, OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA, Fussed nt a Meeting held in Macon, on the 23th June, 1855. Resolved, Ist, That wc ratify and approve of the plat form of principles, adopted by the late National Council of the American Party, at Philadelphia. Resolved, 2d, That the American Party unqualifiedly condemns, and will ever endeavor to counteract, all eff ort'', by any sect or parly, to bring about a union of Church and State, and utterly disclaims any intention to prescribe a religious lost as a qualification lor office. Resolved, 3, That as the Naturalization lawshaveboen so long perverted to the basest purposes; by corrupt politi cal demagogues, as to cause the foreign element to grow vi|) to he a dangerous power in pur midst, deciding our po litical contests as it pleases, there exists an imperative ne cessity for their radical modification, and stricter enforce ment. . Re-otoed, Ith, That we re-affirm the Georgia Platform of 1850, as indicating the right policy, in the event of the contingencies therein mentioned; and we hereby pledge ourselves to stand by and carrry out its principles. Resolved, sth, Tiiat we unqualifiedly condemn the Ad ministration of President Pierce, for the appointment of foreigners to represent our country abroad; for appointing and retaining free-soilers in office; and e-pecially do we condemn the President for not removing Gov. Reeder from office, when it was first known that he had used his offi cial station both to enable him to speculate in the Indian Resei vations, and to sustain and carry out the views of the Free Soil party of Kansas. Resolved; Gth, ‘l’hat this Council (while repudiating the policy of allowing, in the of the coun try, unnaturalized foreigners to vote in the territorial elec tions,) regards all opposition to the principles of tho Ne braska Kansas act, in relation to slavery, as hostility to the copstitutional’rights of the Smith; and all persons who partake in such opposition as unfit to bo recognized as members of the, American party. THE Grand Jurors sworn, chosen and selected for the coun ty of A/mcogeo, for the December Term, 1854, (adjourn ed to first Jtfondnyin June, 1855) of Muscogee Superior Court, and the second Panel thereof, beji leave to make the following Presentments. We call the attention of the Inferior|Churt to the condition of the Court House. In consequence of a leak in the Cupola, the plastering in the upper rooms is becoming damaged—the Pe tit Jury Boom is in bad condition—tho glazier could be em ployed to advantage. We also call the attention of the proper authorities to the broken wall at the step? near the south west corner of the Court house. YVe recommend to the Cos inty Court the propriety of having commodious iFire Proof Vaults erected in the basement of the Court house, lor the safety of the many valuable Documents, (accumulating in our several county offices) liable to be destroyed by lire. We have examined the offices o f the Superior and Inferior Court Clerks, and take pleasure in stating that they are, in all respects in order, and give evidence of the efficiency of the several Clerks. The books and papers of the Clerk of the Su rior court are tastefully and methodically arranged, showing many advantageous improvements since D. J. Barber, Esq., the present incumbent, has been in office. We have reason to believe that John Johnson, Esq., has giv en general satisfaction in the discharge of his important duties. YVe timi the Roads generally in bad order, not having been worked upon. The weather has been t'ovorab.e: but incase of heavy lain?, the roads in many places would become almost impassable. The Biidges throughout the coun'ry need repairs—that over standing Boy CreeK is so much decayed asto oe dangerous to passengers, and should have immediate attention. We recommend that the Bridge Contractor be required to rebuild the Bridge’over IJpatoie Creek heretofore known as Wall’s Bridge. It has been down for three years past, causing great inconvenience to many persons in the country. We ibid the Jail in some respects insecure—the lock of tlie entrance door is weak—the door requires facing with iron, fas tened with .-t ‘ong knobs. We recommend that anew door be placed between theontranee and the top of staircase. YVetiml the passage window insecure, and recommend the addition of horizontal bars. There is danger of fire from the stove pipe, which runs through the wall instead of into the chiuine v . VVe recommend that the Jail be thoroughly repa’red. We regret to state, that, so far as we can perceive, no steps have yet been taken to abate the “shin plus'er” nuisance.
