Citizens! Do Not Permit a
Senate Committee to Block
The Inquiry Into the House
'(Reprinted by permission of The
Atlanta Georgian.’’)
Citizens of the United States:
The investigation of private in¬
ternational bankers and their con¬
nections with foreign governments
and with your public officials is of
vital importance to you and to
your government and to purity and
honesty in your public life and in¬
deed to the preservation of Ameri¬
can institutions.
It is your civic duty to interest
yourselves personally in this inves¬
tigation and to see that all the
facts are uncovered which may
lead to the improvement of the
political and financial conditions
in this YOUR country.
It is your duty to try to prevent
the surrender of the best interests
•of your country to advantage of
foreign peoples and foreign powers
It is your duty to see that your
government is conducted honestly
and conscientiously for the public
good.
It is your duly to see that certain
great financial magnates do not
have more influence with your pub¬
lic officials than you have, and also
*o see that private influences are
not exercised in secret and sinister
manner to decide elections and
determine legislation in ways
which are contrary to your wisli
and your welfare.
You should know how it is that
"“ihe House or'Mfitgan isThfc virtual”
governing body of this country;
how it is that Mr. John Pierpont
Morgan, a private citizen,possesses
more political power than your
President.
You now have an opportunity
m decide whether you shall run
your country in your own interests
or whether great international
bankets shall run this greulc i untry
in their interest-, or worse, in the
interests of those foreign nations
with which most of their business
as international bankers is done.
Do not allow this opportunity to
learn facts and to reform conditions
to slip by you.
It may be a lonS time before you
have another President who was
NOT nominated by the House of
Morgan and is not control’ed by
big financial interests.
It may be a long time befoie you
have another chance to investigate
and disc’ose the devious ways of
big business to control politics and
plunder the public.
It may be a long time before you
have such another honest, fearless
investigating attorney as clever
and courageous Ferdinand Pecora
Citizens of the United States,
you know your duty and you real
ize your opportunity.
It is your business to see that the
Senatorial investigation continues
thoroughly and vigorously and
honestly and impartially until the
full facts are disclosed.
It is your business to support
your fine, independent President.
It is your business to back up
your ab'e investigating attorney.
It is your business to make your
Senatorial investigating committee
INVESTIGATE and not e^postg
late, and procrastinate, and pre¬
varicate, and deviate, and duck
and dodge, and try to evade their
obligation to their country and to
YOU, the public.
Every little banker in every
Senator’s home state and home
fowp i§ fpljtng tp s idenafors tp
‘flay oft'” the great god Morgan,
But, after all, the Senators are
not TilEIR Senators. They are
your Senators,
