KOBKUTSTOWN NEWS
Rev. Chas D ivis and Mr. Wood
of Hiawaxsee, Ga., is conducting
a revival meeting at Center Bap¬
tist church at Robertstown this
week. They are doing some good
preaching. We hope to have a
good revival at this time.
Miss Maouia Brock, Mr. and Mrs
Ted Murphy have returned back
to their jobs at Hampton, Va ,
alter a short visit with parents at
Robertstown.
The good times that so many
talked about have not come around
our wav yet.
The U. S. Government has hit
Georgia in the face with a sledge
hammer. Mas Georgia has got to
go to Iowa and New York for men
who has t be ability to tell Geor¬
gians bow they must spend their
money. We are under a dictator
ship. We are not qualified to run
our own business, so we are going
to a hog killing tomorrow and then
everybody will get a mess of fresh
pork, and when it is gone what
will become of us next, kill the old
pooi cows J reckon. This is where
are in my present financially. It
is due to the efforts of federal laws,
state law, county laws, corpora¬
tion laws, by-laws, brother-in-laws
and outlaws. I have been bejd
down, beldup. walked on, sat ou,
Rattened and squeezed until I do
not know where I am, what ] am.
or why 1 am. These laws com¬
pel me to pay a merchant tax, capi¬
tal lax, real estate tax, property
auto tax, gas tax, water tax,
light tax, street tax, school tax and
carpet tax. In addition to these
laws I am requested and required
to contribute to ever)' society and
organization that the inventive
mind of man can organize : To the
Society of St, John, the Women’s
Relief, Navy League, the Child¬
ren’s Home, the Polieemen’s Bene¬
fit. the dress Society, the Y. M. C.
A., the Boy Scouts, the Jewish
Relief in the Far East, the Gold
Diggers Home, every hospital and
every charitable institution in town
county and state, the Red Cross,
the White Cross and the Purple
Cross. The government has so
governed my business that I do
not know wtio I am or who owns
my property, i am suspected, ex¬
pected, inspected, directed,examin¬
ed, reexamined, informed, requir
ed and compelled until all I know
is that I am supposed to provide
an inoxluiiistable supply of money
for every known need desired or
hoyed of the human race, and be
cause 1 refuse to donate to all and
go out and beg, borrow and steal
money to give away I am cussed,
discussed, boycotted, talked to
talked about, lied to (ied about,
lieldup, held down and robbed un
til i am utterally ruined. So the
only reason I am tllinging to life is
to see what in the Sam Hill is go
ing to become of our country next.
■So beat it if you can.

to him than the truth.”
Two out of every three farmers

The Bible was not written 'for
scholars. There are not many
great scholars ill the world. The
Bible was written for common
folks like you and me. There may
be literacy beauty in the Bible
which a person without scholar¬
ship cannot appreciate. There
may be historical settings that un¬
educated people cannot grasp, Bui
spiritual truths can be comprehend¬
ed and appreciated by the human
heart when that heart is touched
by the power of the Holy Ghost,
Darwin said several hundred
times, “We may suppose”, or
words to that effect, You nevei
find such expressions in the Bible.
There is a finality about every
expression. Darwin looked about
him in this universe and guessed
about how things came into exist
ence. The Bible says, “In the be¬
ginning God created the heaven
and the earth.” Shall the old
Bible, hoary with the age of eeu
turies, written with the finger ol
inspiration,born on Sinai and com¬
pleted amid the splendors of the
Apocalypse, llee the stage because
somebody guesses about bow thing
are created ?.
1 have no trouble in believing in
the authority of the Bible. If man
had been the author of the Book
he v ' ?uuld not have written t-,
simply about creation. Man would
not have eaid, “Iu tiie beginning
God created the heaven and the
earth.” He would have written a
volume instead of a verse. (July
God could inspire men to write
about the creation of this
in a plain, simple way.
Simplicity is always truth’s most
becoming garb. Some one said,
“Truth and Error went in wash¬
ing. Error came out and put on
Truth’s clothes. Truth has oeen
naked ever since.” Error has to
wear the garb of Truth to be pop¬
ular.
The devil told Adam, “When
you eat this fruit your eyes will be
open and you’ll know good from
evil,” This partially true. Adam
got his eyes open, but he got them
open too late. He had ruined his
Paradise. He had wrecked his
Eden. He had cursed his poster
ity before be got his eyes open.
