T SAUTEE-NACOOCHEE
Much ado About nothing! Lots of
talk about rain — but still nothing
done about it.
Following closely the recent Na¬
coochee Institute reunion, much
pleasure was derived from the visit
of Miss Aline Clayton, formerly prin¬
cipal of the Nacoochee Institute aca¬
demic department. Here for the pur¬
pose of organizing a Nacoochee Wo¬
men’s Auxiliary at the Presbyterian
Church, Miss Clayton seemed right¬
fully at home — and it’s our guess
that a translation of some of her ex¬
pressions would bring out the fact
that she would like to stay. Much in¬
terest has been shown in her presen¬
tation of benefits derived from an
Auxiliary, and the achievements in
connection with both church and
community activities.
Along the Valley Road!
Hey, you Highway Snrveyors, this
is the road up here! How about it?
Well dry? Water low? There’s a
solution. Don’t know what it is, but
just ask Tommy and Walter B.
Lumsden, Jr. After the consistent
pound, pound, pound of a well drill
on their estate for a continuous pe¬
riod of about six weeks, they decided
to personally find out what goes! At
breakfast time one morning a couple
•weeks ago they started digging a
•well on their property with only
makeshift equipment. By lunch time
they had a well with an ample sup¬
ply of water. Nuf sed. of 1

HELEN HAPPENINGS
“Cap” Williams, of Helen, has re¬
turned from another visit to the
Gainesville hospital and at the time
of this writing he is in very poor
health. We sincerely hope that Mr.
Williams will soon be Well.
Mr. Dandy Vandiver has been in
poor health for quite some time now.
Friends still call on Mr. Vandiver as
he loves to see his many friends,
Mrs. Luber Adams, of Hortens
ville, gave a very nice shower for
the young Mrs. H. C. Johnson at the
home of Mrs. Hershel Johnson Au¬
gust 9th. A grand selection of gifts
were given to the young bride.
Mrs. Hazel Martin and daughter
Montine, of Newport News, Va., are
the present visitors of the Hershel
Johnson family of Hortensville. Mr.
Martin is expected to join his family
here shortly.
Seems as though most everyone in
our town has enjoyed at least a few
of the grand services that have been
held at the Holiness arbor near
Cleveland these past 10 days.
We are glad to see that Mrs. Walt
Sims is on the way to feeling much
improved after such a long sickness.
Glad she is up and out again.
The Helen Hosiery employees are
showing us how nice they can “turn
out” those nice men’s socks as well
as some very nice toys such as teddy
bears and stuffed kittens. Glad to see
such nice work being done.
The week of the 10th thru the 17th
a Methodist revival is being held at
the Chattahooehee Church. Surely
many of the local folks will turn out
for it.
We welcome Mr. and Mrs. Burger,
once a resident of Helen, back for a
visit. They have parked their nice
trailer by the lovely T. B. Henderson
home.
The Greer canning plant is well
under way of production and will
shortly be able to open for business.
The loeval folks will be so glad of
this.
Choir practice for the young peo¬
ple of the town has been organized
under the direction of Mrs. Philip

time to practice kids so why not try
your voice in the choir?
