Enough money to build 72 schools
like this. That was the tax bill for
Georgia Power Company in 1964.
Our tax bill for 1964 was $37 1 /2 million. That
would build 72 new schools, and each would be
as big and handsome as the one pictured above.
Actually, taxes are spent for a lot of things:
schools, streets, highways, police and fire pro¬
tection and many other government functions.
Like you, the Georgia Power Company pays,
federal income, state income and state property
taxes. In addition, we make payments to 154
counties, 437 cities and 175 school and fire dis¬
tricts throughout the state.
In fact, our tax bill for 1964 was 48 percent
more than the company’s operating payroll..
Yes, like you, we pay taxes—in full measure.
Always have. It’s part of being a good citizen..

What better time for the drink that scores
almost every golfer— cool, thirst-quenching beer?
Yes, beer’s great to relax with, great for refresh¬
ment, great for taste. So whatever your sport
boating or baseball-swimming or tennis-relax
afterwards with ti*3 sestful taste of beer. ~
