Census bureau holds testing for taker positions
U.S. Census Bureau testing
for census taker positions will
be held 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on
Thursday, Jan. 8, and Thursday,
Jan. 22; and 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
on Saturday, Jan. 10, and Satur
day, Jan. 24, at the Jenkins
County Family Enrichment
Center, 527 Barney Ave.,
Millen. Interested persons
should call 982-8004 to sched
ule a test. Veterans, please bring
DD214 Form.
Applicants should arrive to
the test site 15 minutes early.
The test is a 30-minute timed
test. A practice test is available
online at
www.2010censusjobs.gov;
click on “documents,” then
click on “census practice test.”
Please bring with you identi
fication; one from List A or one
from List B and List C. List A:
passport or employment autho
rization document (unexpired
and a photo); List B: driver’s
license or ID with photo, school
ID with photo, voter’s registra
tion card, U.S. military or de
pendents ID card or draft
record, U.S. Coast Guard or
Native American tribal docu
ment; List C: social security
card, original or certified copy
of birth certificate. Native
American tribal document, U.S.
citizen ID card, resident citizen
card, unexpired employment
card from Homeland Security.
The U.S. Census Bureau will
hold job testing for supervisory
positions with the census 2 p.m.
Thursday, Jan. 8, and 10 a.m.
Saturday, Jan. 10, at the Savan
nah Local Census Office, 2 East
Bryan St., Johnson Square,
downtown Savannah. For infor

No appointment is necessary.
Veterans, bring a copy of your
DD214 to receive veteran’s
preference.

listen to a story and then do a

we’ll be having our Teen Book
Club meeting. Teens are wel

month, we’re discussing Code

ANNUAL MEETING NOTICE
The sixth annual meeting of the membership of the North
Jenkins County Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. will be held on
Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009. The meeting will be held at the
Perkins Community House (The Village Club). Starting time is
7:00 PM.
No new amendments are being brought forth for changes to
the By-Laws.
Four at-large Board positions are to be voted upon. Those
positions are currently being filled by David Chance, Jeannine
Curl, Byron Newton and Mike Lane.

PRIVATE ENTERPRISE COORDINATION
RURAL PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM
Jenkins County is applying for funding assistance under Title
49 U.S.C. Section 5311 of the Federal Transit Act pertaining to
rural and small urban areas.
Jenkins County will offer general public transportation to all
citizens of Jenkins County for any worthwhile purpose, includ
ing but not limited to shopping, medical treatment, social serv
ices and other purposes.
Jenkins County solicits private sector input and participation
to assure that private for-profit transportation operators have a
fair and timely opportunity to participate in the development of
this program.
Jenkins County also solicits comments and concerns from
the general population on local rural public transportation
services.
Jenkins County also solicits comments and concerns from
the disabled population and their representatives to assure that
issues relating to the disabled are addressed in the service
design proposed during the planning process.
Interested persons are invited to request that a public hear
ing be held to discuss the services being offered or devel
opment of the application.
Written comments, requests for a public hearing and/or writ
ten notice of intent by private for-profit transportation opera
tors to provide or participate in any or all of the above services
should be submitted no later than fifteen (15) days from the
date of publication to

Ashley Nicole Brinson and Marc Lee Becton were united in
marriage at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14,2008 at the Jenkins County
Courthouse.
Ashley is the daughter of Roy and Janet Jones of Millen. She is
the granddaughter of Pearl Weathersby and the late Franklin
Weathersby, and Leroy and Mercidene Jones, all of Millen.
She is a 2001 graduate of Jenkins County High School. She is
employed by Bethany Nursing Center of Millen
Marc is the son of Danny Ray Becton of Millen and Alyson
Romedy of Rincon. He is the grandson of Jerry and Beckie Becton
of Millen and Roscoe Young of Millen.
He is a 1995 graduate of Jenkins County High School. He is
employed by Clark Iron Works in Statesboro.

New distributor, alternator, plugs, wires, pertronix ignition, Clifford
performance 4 barrel intake, holly 4 barrel carb, Clifford headers,
custom true dual exhaust w/turbo mufflers. Car needs floor
boards, carpet, headliner and rear seat is torn. The body is very
straight, I haven’t found a dent yet. Would love to restore but I
have too many projects and not enough time. Car also has AC,
