In Loving Memory
Charles Watson Lanier Sr.
July 9. 1931 until Jan. 12. 2008
It’s been one long year, your heart stopped beating and it felt
like mine did, too. You were the best friend that I have ever had
and the smartest man I ever knew.
Through your long illness, we had some rough times and hard
times, but our love was so strong, we were only one person. I
Still Miss You.
God put His arms around you, and lifted you to rest, away
from all the pain and suffering. I miss so much hearing your
voice and I can only see your face through pictures which are
everywhere in our home and tears fill my eyes when I think about
the times we shared through the years.
I never knew till you were gone how many pages you were on,
well it never ends, I keep turning them line after line, you’re
there again, well, I don’t know how to let you go, you’re so deep
down in my soul, it’s a door that never closes. I have talked to
God, to friends, and prayed so hard, but I Still Miss You. You are
gone, but you will never be forgotten.
I love you and miss you and No One can ever take your place.
I Still Miss You!
Love,
Joyce

How Would Jesus Drive?
What does our driving say about us? We would expect that those who claim to be compassionate,
Godly people would be considerate and cooperative in the way that they drive; but, it is practically a
cliche to remark that almost as soon as people are out of the church parking lot on Sunday morning,
they are driving without regard for the other people on the road, acting selfishly and often treating
others in a most uncharitable way. And although we don’t know how or what Jesus would drive, we can
safely infer from the Gospel message that He would not be an aggressive driver, putting other people
at risk. When Jesus said that we should render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s (Matthew 22:21) that
includes following the traffic rules. Jesus was a model of compassion and His driving would no doubt
have reflected that. Are we considerate of others on the road, following the rules and letting people
merge in front of us, or are we selfish, aggressive and competitive, trying to get in front of as many
cars as we can? Remember, what goes around comes around, both on our nation’s highway, and on
the highway of life. If we drive aggressively, for instance, by tailgating or weaving in and out of heavy
traffic, people are likely to do the same to us. The Golden Rule is perhaps the most fundamental of
God’s moral precepts for humanity, and it applies to every area of our life, even driving. So, perhaps
we should consider our driving and what it says about us as a Christian and a human being. Therefore,
whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets. New
