ment for citations online. The

The website requires your cita
tion number or your name.
You will be able to pay the ci
tation with your credit card if the
citation is not mandatory court.

Thursday, Jan 15
• The sheriff’s office re
sponded to a reported burglary
at the Oak Hill Baptist Church.
It was learned that entry was
gained to the office area of the
church and items were stolen.
The burglary occurred between
9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, and
8 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 15.
If anyone has information
concerning this crime, please
call the sheriff’s office at (478)
982-4211 or (478) 982-1570. All
information received will be
kept confidential.
Friday, Jan. 16
• Jailer Ben Thompson of the
Jenkins County Sheriff’s Office,
while making a security check
of the outside perimeter of the
jail, located and seized contra
band cigarettes, cigars, and a
small quantity of marijuana. The
contraband was apparently
thrown over the fence of the
prisoner recreation area in an
attempt to smuggle it into the
jail. The incident is under inves
tigation and an arrest is antici
pated.
A person who crosses the
guard lines of a jail or prison
with the intent to furnish certain
contraband to prisoners is guilty
of a FELONY which is punish
able by one to four years in
prison. Sheriff Oglesby states
that any person caught violating
this law can expect to be ar
rested, placed into the Jenkins
County Jail, and prosecuted to of the building on a regular ba
the fullest extent that the law sis. Sooner or later, someone
allows. He says that officers will be caught and have to face
check and patrol the perimeter the music.

The Millen Police Depart
ment reported the following
incidents this week.
Friday, Jan. 16
• Deputies investigated a
burglary at Two Sisters Hair
Salon, Daniel Street. A glass
candy jar of quarters and
$300 in cash was reported
missing.
• A burglary was reported at
Elegant Sweets, North Gray
Street. The owner stated that
nothing appeared to be miss
ing.
Saturday, Jan. 17
• Deputies discovered a bro
ken window at the Jenkins
County Library. Upon gaining
entry, it was discovered that
a 3-drawer file cabinet, con
taining approximately $150 in
cash, was taken. The cabinet
was found in a nearby trash
dumpster.
Sunday, Jan. 18
• Danny Charles Cates Jr. of
506 Morningside Circle was
charged with driving under
the influence of alcohol, fail
ure to maintain lane and open
container violation.

The Millen Police Depart
ment issued a warning this week
to drivers of all 18-wheelers
traveling on city streets.
The City of Millen prohibits
18-wheelers from using city
streets unless they are directly
conducting business, such as
making deliveries, which spe
cifically require use of the
streets. No thru-traffic is al
lowed. The vehicles also should
not be parked on city streets
unless a delivery is being made.
The MPD will immediately
begin issuing tickets for viola
tions.
