Page 2 — Wednesday, May 20, 2009, The Millen News ROTC Awards The Army Corps of Cadets at Jenkins County High School (JCHS) hosted their second annual Awards and Recognition Banquet Fri day, April 24, in the school cafeteria. Left, Col Don Stephens, Mili tary Order of World Wars, presents Cadet Staff Sergeant Brittany McKinney with an award for overall improvement in military and scholastic studies. Millen Better Hometown is sponsoring a garden lour ;md art show in Millen 1-4 p.m, Saturday, May 23. Visitors will have Ihg Opportunity to view the gardens some of Mil ton's most talented gardeners. The gardens of Beth and Rodney Collins. Vernon Edenlleld Jane Johnson. Carolyn and Joe Law, Dot and Ed Paul, Bobbie Reid. Belli and King Rocker and Evelyn Young arc featured on the tour. Another focal point for visitors on this afternoon will be the Milton Community House Park. The Ogcechcc River Artists Association will have an an show and sale in the park. Visitors will also have the opportunity to purchase plants from Wiggins Etrigalion and Landscape Service. Howell’s Nursery Eind Betty Black. Wade Parker, Kenny Wiggins and master gardeners will be on hand to answer gardening questions. Tickets are S5 and are available at the Milton^Jenkins County Chamber of Commerce Office on Cotton Avenue. They will be available ihe day of Ihe tour at the Milton Community House Park. She was also recognized by the National Sojourn ers, Augusta Chapter, for encouraging/demonstrating American ism.
