The Millen News, Wednesday, June 10, 2009 — Page 3 Miss Herrmann marries Mr. Anderson Haley Celeste Herrmann and William Garrett Anderson were united in marriage at 6 p.m. June 7, 2008. The double ring, candlelit ceremony was held at Wades Baptist Church in Cooperville with the Rev. James Cox and the Rev. Dan Joyner officiating. The bride is the daughter of Ms. Teresa Ellison of Sylvania and Mr. and Mrs. Gary Herrmann of Millen. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Christine Casey and the late Neil Casey, Mr. and Mrs. Preston Taylor and Mrs. Runette Herrmann and the late Roy Herrmann, all of Millen. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Danny Anderson of Sylvania. He is the grandson of Mrs. Margaret Anderson and the late Billy Anderson of Statesboro and the late M.F. and Kathene Freeman of Sylvania. Given in marriage by her par ents and escorted by her father, the bride wore an original white silk duchess satin gown. The strapless sweetheart neckline featured a boned, hand embroi dered bodice and basque waist encrusted with various sizes of Swarvoski crystals and bugle beads. The A-line skirt with a modified V-back and cathedral train had similar hand-embroi dered lace lavishly adorned with Swarovski crystal beading at the hemline. She wore a two-lay- ered, fingertip sheer illusion white veil edged with Swarovski crystal beading and a complementing Swarovski crystal tiara. The bride carried a cascading bouquet of minia ture calla lilies, vendella roses, sweetheart roses, Fuji mums, and asparagus fern. The church aisles were flanked on each side with ped estals holding massive arrange ments of gladiolus, vendella roses, Fuji mums, alstromeria and daises, accented with curly willow branches and asparagus fern. The chancel was outlined with grapevine intertwined with garlands of greenery and pink and white roses. White tree can- delabras with lighted cathedral tapers were in the middle and on each side of the chancel. The candelabras were decorated with arrangements of white alsteroemeria and stargazer lil- Mr. and Mrs. William Garrett Anderson ies, roses, Fuji mums, snapdrag ons and asparagus fern. Similar cascading floral arrangements designated family pews. The aisle was adorned with a white hand painted aisle runner featur ing the couple’s monogram. The bride chose childhood friend Jessica Hall of Statesboro to serve as her matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Anna Casey and Megan Fane of Statesboro, cousins of the bride; Sonya Flakes of Hephzibah and Komal Patel of Macon, college friends of the bride; Nikki Sanders of Sylvania, childhood friend of the bride; Angie Fane and Vanessa Parker of Millen, and Jennifer Oglesby of Sylvania, sisters of the bride, and Beth McKenzie of Sylvania, niece of the bride. The bridesmaids wore a floor- length teal satin chiffon gown that fell into an A-line skirt and featured a sweep train. The strapless neckline was accented with a Swarovski crystal brooch. They carried hand tied bouquets of sweetheart roses, miniature calla lilies, chrysanthemums, hypericum berries, hydrangea, seeded eucalyptus and aspara gus fern. Danny Anderson, father of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Benji Ander son of Sylvania, brother of the groom; Stuart Boykin, Patrick Fee, Jason Smith and Justin Smith, all of Sylvania, childhood friends of the groom; Jason Brinson of Sylvania, childhood friend of the bride; Jeff Fane of Millen, brother-in-law of the bride; Matt Sykes, friend of the groom, and Philip Kent, brother of the bride, both of Statesboro. Miss Kathryne Davis of Sylvania, cousin of the groom, served as flower girl. She wore a white tea-length satin and tulle dress with a floral halo in her hair, and she earned a white silk basket of rose petals. Master Tucker Fane of Millen, nephew of the bride, served as ring bearer. Music was provided by Sandra Jeffers, pianist; Melaina Joyner and Will Gay, vocalists. Kimberly Kirby of Young Harris, college friend of the bride, greeted guests and kept the bride’s book. Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a seated- dinner reception and dance at Snella’s Place in Statesboro. Mrs. Janet Taylor greeted guests as they arrived. In keeping with Southern tradition, cool pitchers of lemonade and sweet tea pro vided a refreshing welcome un der the gazebo as the guests mingled. Guests entered the ballroom upon the arrival of the wedding party. Tables were adorned with white floor-length tablecloths and a teal overlay. The chairs were dressed in a complement ing white linen cover with an organza sheer sash of sage-cha meleon. Each table featured a unique floral creation. A billow ing ceiling drape of white tulle accented with twinkle lights el egantly swagged from the cen ter of the room. A candy buffet table featured wide-mouth glass vases of vari ous sizes filled with numerous types of sweet treats to create candy centerpieces and lollipop topiaries in the wedding colors. Other favors included a monogrammed silver tin with personalized M & M’s of teal and electric green featuring the names of the bride and groom with the date of marriage, and a customized CD with the couple’s favorite songs. For the reception and dance, the bride chose a floor-length matte satin white strapless gown with scattered beading on the bodice and a bustled back. The couple chose “Wonderful To night’’ for their traditional first dance. The newlyweds honey mooned at the Sandals Resort in St. Fucia and now make their home in Cooperville. Rehearsal Dinner On the eve of the wedding, Mr. and Mrs. Danny Anderson hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Statesboro Inn where guests en joyed a buffet dinner of South ern cuisine. Guests enjoyed a video slideshow of the couple throughout their childhood and through the journey of their courtship. Bridesmaid’s Luncheon Prior to the wedding, a bridesmaid’s luncheon was held to honor the bridesmaids at the home of Mrs. Pamela Davis and co-hosted by Mrs. Mary Matthews and Miss Laura Matthews. The bride chose this time to present her bridesmaids with their gifts. Mrs. Garvin celebrates Jonathan Powell and Ashley Wiliams Williams, Powell to wed Final plans have been announced for the wedding of Ashley Lynn Williams and Jonathan Alan Powell. The ceremony will take place 7 p.m. Saturday, June 13, at the home of the bride at 899 Charlie Jones Road. The bride-elect is the daughter of Terry and Debbie Williams of Millen. The groom-elect’s parents are Dr. Robert and Nancy Cobb of Dublin and Eddie and Judy Powell of Millen. No local invitations will be sent. All friends and relatives are invited to attend. 90 th birthday with family Children of Mrs. Barnetta Waye Garvin hosted a 90 th birthday party for their mother May 30, 2009 at the Millen Community House. Five genera- tions were present, including her chil dren, Ray Garvin, Roy Garvin, Faye Long, Joyce Garvin, Vivian Garvin and Paula Currington. Mrs. Garvin is the proud mother of seven children, 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, with four more on the way, and two great- great-grandchildren. Also in attendance were her sister, Bonnell Voight, and brothers, Frank Waye and Eugene Waye. A buffet of southern cooking was enjoyed after which Mrs. Frank Waye read a poem, and Bennie Hall gave a wonderful de piction of how it was growing up with the Garvin children and his favorite aunt. A 20 minute video/slideshow of her and her loved ones brought tears and joy to all. Dancing and cake was enjoyed with grandson Gregg Sherrod dancing the first dance with his grandmother, who at her age continues to amaze every one.
