In Memoriam
June Weaver Moore
Sunrise: 6-12-53 Sunset: 12-16-08
When days are sad and lonely,
And everything goes wrong,
We seem to hear you whisper,
“Cheer up and carry on.”
"Don’t cry, I’m in God’s keeping,
We’ll meet again someday.”
Sadly missed by her family
In memory of Don Lambrix Jr.
Dec. 7, 1941 - June 12 - 2007
Two years ago today, God silently took a special man away.
We did not see you close your eyes, or hear your last faint
sigh.
You left us quietly, your thoughts unknown.
But, left us a memory we are proud to own.
So, treasure him. Lord, in your Garden of Rest,
For when on earth, he was the best.
We love you and miss you more each day,
For it’s been so lonely since you went away.
Your loving wife and family,
Wife-Emmy,

VFW Celebrates National Flag Day
July 4 th is traditionally celebrated as America’s birthday, but
the idea of having a day to celebrate the flag was first originated
in 1885. After many years of local and state citizens continuing
this tradition of Flag Day, President Woodrow Wilson officially
established Flag Day on May 30, 1916. It was not until Aug. 3,
1949 that President Truman designated June 14 of each year as
National Flag Day.
The local VFW Post will honor Flag Day by conducting a flag
disposal ceremony on the courthouse square 8:00 p.m. (sunset),
Saturday, June 13. All residents are invited to attend and bring
any tattered flags for disposal. Setting soiled or worn flags on
fire in a dignified way is in accordance with the U. S. Code,
according to the protocol office of the Department of Defense.
The Flag Code states “The flag, when it is in such condition that
it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed
in a dignified way, preferably by burning”.
Additional information may be obtained by contacting Don
Leonard, VFW Vice-Commander.

Work Out Your Salvation with Diligence
i Most of us probably spend more time each day thinking about and preparing our daily meals
' than we do thinking about where and how we will spend eternity. These relatively minor
concerns of the day, from what we will eat, to what we will wear, and generally, how we will
maximize our pleasures and minimize our pain and suffering, have a tendency to crowd
%) out the more important, spiritual concerns. If we spend more time thinking about eating
than about our salvation, perhaps this is merely a refection of the fact that we value our
stomachs more than we do our souls. And, if we spend more time fantasizing about our
material possessions than we do about our spiritual ones, then again, this is merely a
reflection of where our treasure is. All great religious figures have reminded us of this.
Jesus warned: “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust
consume and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in
heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and
* steal. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” (Matthew 6:19-21)
Consider too, the last words of Buddha, which could just as well have been uttered by
Jesus: “All compounded things are impermanent. Work out your own salvation with dili
gence.” And finally, consider the advice of Paul to “work out your own salvation with fear and
trembling,” i.e., humbly and with complete dependence to God. (Philippians 2:12)
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. New K.J.V. John 3:16
