JCMS announces the ‘Caught Ya!’ Program
Jenkins County Middle
School (JCMS) believes that
everyone thrives on positive
reinforcement. It feels good to
have someone recognize your
efforts, but often they go
unnoticed. Good behavior, so
cial skills, and citizenship are
essential to learning and suc
ceeding, not only in school but
in life.
This is why new seventh
grade ELA teacher Mrs. Moira
McNeil-Acree and seventh
grade math teacher Mrs. Laurie
Fleming collaborated and devel
oped the new “Caught Ya!” pro
gram to support positive behav
ior. It is based on students be
ing "caught” doing something
positive.
All staff members (adminis
trators, teachers, paraprofes-
sionals, secretaries, the counse
lor, cafeteria personnel and the
custodian) will have the discre
tion to award good behavior by
giving students a ticket when
they are “caught”.
The focus of the program is
on teaching students a set of
values and character traits that
support a positive and caring
educational environment. Stu
dents take their tickets to the
office. The principal, Mrs.
Nicole Moulton, lets the stu
dents choose a small prize as an
immediate reinforcement when
positive behaviors are
exhibited. This also encourages
students to get used to going to
the principal’s office for some
thing “positive”.
National Hunting and Fishing Day is Saturday
A free fishing day is offered to
all Georgia residents on Sept. 26
in celebration of the 2009 Na
tional Hunting and Fishing Day.
On this day, residents do not
need a fishing license or a trout
license to fish on any public wa
ters in the state including lakes,
streams, ponds and public fish
ing areas (PFA). In addition, resi
dents do not need to obtain a wild
life management area (WMA) li
cense to fish on a PFA, WMA or
on Waters Creek on this day.
And if you thought the day
could not get better - it just did.
Georgia State Parks and Historic
Sites are offering a free day on
Sept. 26 which means no park
ing or admission fees.
The U.S. Congress and Presi
dent Richard Nixon established
National Hunting and Fishing
Day 38 years ago to recognize
generations of hunters and an
glers for the time and money -
more than a billion dollars each
year - they donate to wildlife con
servation programs. According
to the
proclamation signed by Gov
ernor Perdue, conserving the
state’s natural and wildlife re
sources is one of the most impor
tant responsibilities for this and
future generations, and the con
servation programs supported and
financed by Georgia hunters and
anglers have benefited hundreds
of
wildlife species, including deer,
wild turkeys, bald eagles and
songbirds for all Georgians to
enjoy.

Day in Georgia - including a
