Here’s Johnny
This Saturday night will be too marvelous for words. Robert Ray and Company will be on stage as part of the Burke
County Series as they present “Johnny Mercer ... Too Marvelous for Words.” The show is a tribute to the great
American lyricist Johnny
Mercer on his 100 th anniver
sary. The production stars
Ray, Marsha Dupree and
Shawn Megorden, plus a 5-
piece onstage orchestra and
will feature some of
Mercer’s best loved hits like
Goody Goody, You Must Have
Been a Beautiful Baby, Fools
Rush In, Blues in the Night
and Moon River. The high
energy show, which was a
nine-week sellout in Atlanta,
has already been a hit at
Georgia Music Hall of Fame,
Highlands Playhouse and
the Piccolo Spoleto Festival
in Charleston. The curtain
goes up at 7:30 p.m. at the
Burke County Office Park in

EBA students qualify
for Duke’s talent program
A dozen Edmund Burke
Academy seventh graders have
qualified for Duke University’s
Talent Identification Program
(TIP), which identify verbally
and mathematically talented
students at an early age. This
program is designed for seventh
graders and offers them the op
portunity take the Scholastic
Assessment Test (SAT) or to
take the American College Test
(ACT).
The following students quali
fied: Chelsey Adams, daughter
