Led by coaches Adam Lane, Eddie Conway and Noot Irvin, the Tigers drove to Brunswick ready to play baseball where they won four out of five games to seal the championship. The Tigers’ defense held all five teams played to a total of 14 runs the whole tournament. This compared to 28 runs scored by the Tigers during the event. The Tigers’ defense was lead by the team’s pitching staff. In the first game, Dillon Lane delivered, but the game was called before the Tigers could seal the win. They lost 5-4 to the Richmond Hill Hooks. The second game saw Austin Fields lead the Tigers to a 7-5 win over the Wayne County Rampage. In the third game, Dillon Lane dominated, and TJ Hackle closed the game with a 10-0 win over the Richmond Hill Hooks. The Tigers needed to beat the Jacksonville Force twice to se cure the championship. With D. If funds are available, it will be opened to the general public Tuesday Dec. 1. To qualify for assistance, ap plicants must be responsible for paying the cost of energy for pri mary home heating source; must be a U.S. citizenship or legally admitted alien; must have income at or below 160% of the poverty level for Georgia as follows: One person - $21,458; Two person - $28,061; Three person - $34,663; Four person - $41,266; Five per son - $47,868; Six person - $54,471; Seven person - $55,709; and Eight person - $56,947. Applications will be taken at the Jenkins County Family En richment Center Tuesday, Nov. 3, through Friday, Nov. 20. Appli cations will be taken by appoint ment only on Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s 9 a.m. until noon and Thursday’s 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. For appointments call (478) 982-8004. Applicants must have a copy of social security cards for every one in the household; proof of income for everyone in the household; and most recent heat ing bill. The person applying must have a picture ID and docu ment showing proof of age. Ap plicants that have all the informa tion will have their application processed much quicker. No calls will be accepted re garding the status of an applica tion once it has been completed. The pink copy will be mailed immediately after application has been processed. JCFEC regrets this inconvenience, however the Energy Assistance Program is not an emergency program, and ap plicants are encouraged to con tinue paying on their heating bills. Limited personnel and the need to process applications as quickly as possible make this necessary. Road to Recovery Jenkins County citizens turned out in record numbers for the U. S. Department of Energy’s “Road to Recovery” tour Oct. 27 at the Jenkins County Memorial Library. The tour provided information on job train ing, employment assistance programs and information on remaining Recovery Act jobs at the Savannah River Site.
