Marguerite Johnson
Jenkins, 75, died Sept. 27
Marguerite Johnson Jenkins. 75, of Millen died Tuesday, Sept.
27. 2011.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 30. 2011 at
Oak Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Jamie Archer officiating.
Burial followed in the church cemetery.
She was bom in Jenkins County and was a retired nurse and a
member of the Oak Hill Baptist Church where she attended the
Victory Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by a son, Danny Dailey.
Survivors include her husband, Bruce Jenkins; daughter, Debra
D. Herrmann; two sons, Johnny (Polly) Dailey and Jerry (Shirlee)
Dailey; three sisters, Katherine Bennett, Viola Taylor and Betty
Echols; a brother, Jesse M. (Shirley) Johnson, all of Millen; three
step-sons, Michael Jenkins of Atlanta, Allen (Tina) Jenkins of
Sylvania and Craig (Windy) Jenkins of Linconton; family mem
ber, Henry Brigdon; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchil
dren.
Active pallbearers were nephews.
Honorary pallbearers were Deacons of Oak Hill and the Vic
tory Sunday School Class, Thomas Hughes and Betty Chance.
Memorials may be made to Oak Hill Baptist Church building
Fund.
Crowe-Fields Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Michael Corbett, 50, of
Millen died Sept. 29
Mr. Michael Curtis Corbett, age 50, of Millen died Thursday,
September 29, 2011. ■
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011
at Crowe-Fields Funeral Home.
He was born in Savannah and was a veteran of the U. S. Army,
and a retired air conditioning installer.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Rose Johnson
Ransom.
Survivors include his daughter, Cara A. Corbett of Appling;
and his father, Jeff Corbett of Lizella.

Board of Commissioners has changed the transit fee schedule. The fol
lowing schedule will go into effect October 1,2011
Transport within the city limits $1.50 each way
5 Miles from city limits within the county $2.00 each way
Beyond 5 miles of city limits within the county $3.00 each way
Extra stops (within the city limits) $0.25 per stop
Qualified Senior Citizen Meal Program (within city limits) $8.00 monthly fee

Kelsey Chapel Baptist to hold
pastor appreciation
Kelsey Chapel Baptist Church will hold its pastor’s fourth ap
preciation celebration 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 16. Sunday School
begins at 10 a.m. The guest speaker will be Pastor Edwin Dinkins
of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Helena, Ala. New Resurrec

West Millen to hold homecoming
and revival Oct. 9
West Millen Baptist Church will hold homecoming Sunday,
Oct. 9, during the morning worship service with a covered dish
lunch to follow.
Revival will begin 6 p.m. Sunday night and continue Monday
through Wednesday nights at 7 p.m. with Brother David Wheeler
as the guest evangelist.
The public is invited to attend.
Dry Branch youth collecting for needy
The Dry Branch Baptist Church youth will be collecting for
needy families in Jenkins County through the end of the year.
Items needed include: clothing, toys, house wares, non-perish
able food, etc. All donated items should be clean and in good
condition, worthy to be given as a gift to someone in need.
Those desiring to donate items may contact Yvonne Davis at

a message including name and call back number. Arrangements
will be made to collect donations.
Miracle Deliverance Center to hold revival
Revival services will be held at Miracle Deliverance Center
7:45 p.m. nightly Oct. 10-13. Bishop Willie Jones of Gospel
Explosion will be the guest speaker.

Second McCoy to hold
pastor appreciation
Second McCoy Baptist Church will hold a pastor’s apprecia
tion celebration for the Rev. Levi Sapp and Sis. Shirley Sapp 5
p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8.
The worship leader will be Dea. Gary Winferry of Antioch
Creek Baptist Church, Waynesboro. Music will be rendered by
the Antioch Creek Baptist Church Male Chorus. The message
will be delivered by the Rev. Joel Davis, pastor of Newton Grove
and Willow Springs. Dinner will be served.

Mrs. Ellen Hopson Douglas, retired educator, will be honored
3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9, at Zion Baptist Church, 1068 Old Sylvania
Road. The keynote speaker will be Barbara Shumake Williams
of Atlanta. Ms. Williams is CEO, Educational Management,
Consultants and Dove Connection International Ministry.

Community Worship Center
to hold Homecoming
Community Worship Center, 417 Virginia Avenue, will cel
ebrate their annual Homecoming Oct. 16. Service will begin at
10:30 a.m. with lots of singing, praising and the message. Guest
speaker will be the Rev. Grayson Kent of Cleveland, Tenn.
Grayson works in the media department at the General Head
quarters of the Churches of God. He grew up in Millen and gradu
ated from Jenkins County High School. He is also a graduate of
Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn.
Lunch will be served around noon, with singing in the after
noon. Services will conclude around 2:30 pm. Special singers
will be local singers along with others.
