the more than 40 years she and her husband owned and operated
The Charm Barn. Established as a florist behind the family home
before moving to its original location on Cotton Avenue in Millen,
The Charm Barn expanded into a fashionable shop for bridal reg

A 43 year survivor of cancer, Mrs. Landrum’s relied on her

throughout the state. She served in district and state leadership
capacities for the Garden Clubs of Georgia over a period of ten
years. Mrs. Landrum enjoyed participation and leadership in sev
eral other groups including the Chamber of Commerce and the
Millen Rotary Club for which she was a long-time pianist. In
1974, she was the first female recipient of the Millen Rotary Club’s
Rotarian of the Year Award.
As a home economics teacher at Jenkins County High School
during her first five years in Millen, Mrs. Landrum continued to
serve in the academic community through multiple parent orga
nizations. Lor a period, she served as a member of the Regional
Instructional Television Project Advisory Council representing
Jenkins Country Schools as a lay person appointed by the local
school board.
In 1989 she was named Jenkins County Lirst Lady of the Year,
and was a nominee for Georgia Mother of the Year. In 1984, her
family was named the Lirst Congressional District Lamily of the
Year after being the Millen Woman’s Club Lamily of the Year.
Mrs. Landrum was preceded in death by her parents, her hus
band, and her brother, Thomas S. Burton Jr.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Mr. and
Mrs. Andrew J. (Lyn) Hill III of Athens and the Rev. and Mrs.

While visiting a factory with a friend, he took me into the boiler room. I was impressed with all of the different parts of
the boiler that were necessary to make it work properly. One of the most important parts of the boiler was a glass tube
with water in it. I was told that it was impossible to look into the boiler to see how much water was in it. However, it was
possible to know how much water was in the boiler by looking at the gauge. Whatever was in the boiler would be
registered by the gauge. What is true of the boiler is true of the believer. How much do we love Christ? We can measure
our love for Him by the amount of time we spend in reading the Bible, talking with Him in prayer and waiting on Him in
worship. We can also measure our love for Him by taking an inventory of the amount of time we invest in our service to
others who are in need.
