Paul Herrington was named Volunteer of the Year by Regency
Hospital at the organization’s Christmas party. He is the son of
John T. And Paula Herrington.
Mary Rector Crowder of Millen, wife of Dr. Maurice Crowder,
went to be with the Lord on Dec. 25, 2010.
Byron Scoggins recently traveled to the Vietnam War Memorial
during a recent ceremony.
In The Headlines 25 years ago - Dec. 27,1995
Mr. and Mrs. Ben F. Lane will celebrate their 50th Wedding
Anniversary on January 7, 1996 at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.
The couple requests no gifts, please.
Mrs. Bernice Bynes, 67, died Wednesday, December 20, 1995
at University Hospital.
George Edward McMillan of Millen received the Master of
Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.
In The Headlines 50 years ago - Dec. 31,1970
Mr. T.D. McGowan, manager of the Bethany Home for Men
released infomiation that the local Home had been upgraded by
the Georgia Department of Public Health from a skilled nursing
home to a Medical Nursing Home.
The unofficial report of cotton ginned prior to Jan. 1, 1971 has
placed the figure at 2,476 bales for the entire county. This is an
all time low according to farmers in the area.
Larry Wayne Wiggins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Brantley Wiggins
of Millen was initiated into the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity at
the University of Georgia.
In The Headlines 75 years ago - Dec. 27,1945
A storm of everything in the weatherman’s catalogue has left
much of the northern U.S. blanketed in snow.
PFC James Oglesby, son of Mrs. Eva Oglesby is on his way
home. Pfc Oglesby is one of 2,065 Army veterans on board the
“magic carpet” coming back to the U.S.
Mrs. Dollie Wallace has been with her sister, Mrs. Arthur Eden-
field during her stay in bed.
Mr. and Mrs. Cleveland Thompson, Jr. and children are the
guests of Dr. and Mrs. Cleveland Thompson over Christmas.
