Millen has been the destination of many a Georgia Governor and gubernatorial hopeful through out the years. As Georgia’s Secretary of State, Brian Kemp traveled through all 159 Georgia counties. During the Governor’s speech, he addressed a very important issue to Jenkins County residents, “I am aware of the issue with the railroad crossings. Mayor Rocker has kept me informed and we have scheduled a meeting with railroad officials after the first of the year.” Kemp promised that he would not shut the state down again as was done at the start of the pandemic, reminding the crowd of voters that he was also one of the first governor’s to reopen the state, a decision that has placed him in hot water with some liberals. “I also will not pit vaccinated against unvaccinated or the unmasked against the masked. If re-elected, I will continue to build off of the foundation of past leadership in Georgia.” Qualifying for the gubernatorial election begins March 7 — 11, 2022 with the primary to be held on May 24, 2022.
