The Ogeechee Creek Bridge
located between Buck Road
and Waters Station Road
will close to thru traffic for
approximately 180 days (about
6 months) beginning Monday.
This is made possible by a
bridge replacement project
designed by Georgia DOT’S
Low Impact Bridge Program.
A spokesperson with Georgia
DOT explained in a written
statement to The Millen News,
“most bridges in Georgia are
locally owned. The Low Impact
Bridge Program and Local
Bridge Replacement Program
helps local governments replace
deficient bridges.
The contractor selected
to perform the work on the
Ogeechee Creek Bridge,
Clearwater Constmction will
prepare and maintain the detour
around the closure of the bridge,
which utilizes Waters Station
Road, US 301/State Route 73,
Goloid Church Road, Buck
Road and Ogeechee Road. The
Georgia DOT spokesperson
said, “Motorists can access
residences up to the work
zone but for the public safety,
unauthorized personnel and
motorized vehicles will not
be permitted in the 0.16 mile
constmction zone.”
