Volunteers needed at PruittHealth-Bethany
DEBORAH BENNETT
Millen News Editor
Those with a heart for serv
ing others are invited to con
sider volunteering at Pruitt
Health-Bethany in Millen. The
possibilities are limitless!
“We are open to just about
anything - teaching a Sunday
School class, helping with
bingo, reading books or devo
tions to residents, or doing
arts and crafts. The ladies like
to have their hair and nails
done. The residents love to do
puzzles, play cards and check
ers,” Royal said.
She also noted that the fa
cility has a picnic area with a
shelter where events can take
place.
“The residents would love
a peanut boiling out there, or
ice cream socials,” Royal sug
gested.
Events can be planned for
any time, but Saturday and
Sunday, mornings or after
noons, are especially good
times to come and share with
the residents.
“They love seeing people
from the community com
ing in to visit with them, and
we encourage church groups,
youth groups, college students,
retired citizens, to come join
us,” Royal said.
Those volunteering can bring
their own supplies or the fa
cility can provide the items
needed.
There is also an opening for
an activity director at the facil
ity Mondays through Fridays.
Qualifications for the posi
tion include becoming a cer
tified activity director, if the
applicant doesn’t already have
the certification.
“We prefer someone with
nursing home experience, but
will consider anyone who is
energetic, outgoing and willing
to complete the certification
course. We will even pay for
the course,” Royal said.
Anyone who is interested in
applying for the activity direc
tor position may do so by going
to the PruittHealth-Bethany
website and clicking on the
activity director tab.
Anyone interested in volun
teering should contact Royal
at the facility at 478-982-2531.
Royal also welcomes any
one who might want to tour
the facility before deciding to
volunteer to contact her.
PruittHealth-Bethany also
has a therapy department for
both residents and out-patients.
Currently, there are 83 resi
dents at the facility.
