Green Fork Baptist Church
has a new pastor. Rev. Jesse
Sadler assumed leadership of
the church a few weeks ago.
Rev. Sadler is new to the in
church ministry held, but he
has been ministering to people
for quite some time.
“I was saved ten years ago
while working in the construc
tion business, and I began min
istering on the job to co-work
ers who were going through
difficult times,” he said.
He recalls an incident when
a co-worker who had just lost
a close friend was having a
bad day, and he knelt down
with him on the job and began
praying with him. “Praying is
ministry,” Rev. Sadler said.
He also has taken numerous
Bible classes while pursu
ing civil engineering studies
through Liberty University.
“I didn’t know that God was
preparing me for the ministry
at that time,” Rev. Sadler said.
He and his family began
attending Botsford Baptist
Church in Burke County seven
years ago when he began work
ing at Plant Vogtle.
“When I walked in Botsford,
it was like I was home,” he
said.
He remembers very well the
day he felt the call to preach.
“I just heard God saying, ‘I am
placing a call on your life and
you’re going to accept this.’
It was like I had no choice,”
he said.
“My wife is a pastor’s daugh
ter, and she always said she
would never marry a pastor.
So, this was a surprise to her,”
he added.
He shared his new found
calling with Rev. Mike Dann,
pastor of Bostford, and they
announced it to the church.
Within a short period of time,
Rev. Dann received a call from
a member of Green Fork Bap
tist Church expressing a need
for an interim pastor and asking
for recommendations.
Rev. Sadler answered that
call and eventually was asked
by the church to assume the
role of pastor. He also works
full time with Burke County
facilities maintenance.
“I am pleased with the direc
tion we are headed at Green
Fork Baptist Church. We have
Vacation Bible School sched
uled and family days planned.
We are getting the church back
active in the community,” Rev.
Sadler said.
He and his wife, Beverly,
have seven children, Laila, 17;
Grade, 14; Baker, 10; Felicity,
Joyce Hodges-Hite of Millen re

Indianapolis, Indiana. She took first
place for her age group, 85-89, finish
ing in 15:25 to set a new American
record and secure the National Cham
pionship title.
“I have run 15 races of varying dis
tances so far in 2023, all on the USATF
Grand Prix schedule,” Hodges-Hite
said.
She placed first and secured National
Championship titles in her age group
in three additional Grand Prix events.
On January 21st, she won in the 5K
cross country race held in Richmond,
Va. with a time of 59:32. On February
25th, Hodges-Hite won in a 5K race in
Atlanta, finishing with a time of 48:51.
Her winning streak continued on April
2nd, in Sacramento, California when
she won with a time of 2:44:52 in a
10-mile road race.
Hodges-Hite has two more races on
the Grand Prix schedule in which she
will compete, the 12K in Sandy Hook,
NJ in September and the Cross Coun
try finale in Tallahassee, FL in October.
“I hope I am on the way to winning
the USATF Grand Prix for 2023,” she
said.
At right, Joyce Hodges-Hite is shown
on the cover of National Masters
News magazine. She has recently set
an American record in her age group,
85-89, and secured four 1st-place
wins and National Championships.
The Rev. Jesse Sadler, new pastor of Green Fork Baptist Church, is shown with his wife, Beverly,
and their children, Laila, Grade, Baker, Felicity, Kimbre, Brielle and Malachai.
