CANDIDATES FORUM
Candidate for Millen City Council—District #2
SHANELLE CARR
MILLEN CITY COUNCIL,
DISTRICT #2
GENERAL ELECTION
Tell us a little about your
self. -I was born and raised
in Millen. I d from Jenkins
County High School. I am an
Army veteran, wife, mother
nf four, grandmother of three,
and a community leader with
a heart to serve the people in
my community. I am married
to Elder Steve Carr, he is the
pastor of Living Word Minis
try located on Cotton Avenue,
downtown Millen.
Why did you decide to
run for office? I decided to
run for City Council to ensure
that every citizen’s voice is
heard and represented. A quote
from activist Angelia Davis
describes my desire to run. “I
am no longer accepting those
things I cannot change. I am
changing the things I cannot
accept.”
Previous experience that
qualifies you for the position
you are seeking. I am a Geor
gia Southern University gradu
ate with a Bachelor Degree in
business management. I am a
citizen in this city. What con
cerns and affects other citizens,
concerns and affects me!
What challenges do you
feel the City of Millen is fac
ing that need addressing?
The biggest challenge I feel
we are facing is changing the
view and mindset of the people
to see a BETTER Millen. We,
of course, have the issues of
housing and jobs, and the lack
of, of course.
Why should citizens vote
for you? The citizens should
vote for change, accountability,
representation, and results.
My having a seat at the table
means we will be see! We will
be heard!
