SCHOOL HOUSES.
(Writtenfor This Gazbttk.)
The buildiug and repairing
school houses, last ye.ar, in Fannin
county, has never been equaled be-
fore or since its organization; yet
many of these houses remain unfin-
ished and incomplete. The good
work should continue until every
school house in the county is made
neat and comfortable. The Board
of Education has taken no backward
-tops—beat no retreat, but advanc¬
ing says: no public school shall open
this year in mi uncomfortable house.
The State has made no appropria¬
tion for houses.
This work must be done by the
people.—All the people should help
in proportion to their ability and
the interest they should have in
some school. It is not expected
that teachers alone should build
school —houses,
help, for they need good houses to
stay in as well as the children.
1 hope every one will do his duty
ihis year in fixing the houses. Give
the children this advantage and set
a good example, remembering
“parsimony towards, education is
liberty towards crime.”

If you will do for me that which
other newspaper man is liable ever
to do—that is publish an article
from me—1 will be much obliged to
you atul may j perhaps i t write again
- *-•
Yon know that most people, wlnn
they write for a paper to be sure
thaiit is published, generally give
the editor a good deal of taffy, say-
ing: “your paper is the best in the
world, or any where else. It swells
me up with enthusiasm and makes
me feel hilarious, uproarious etc.,
etc.,
Now sir, you ain’t going to get
any of whoop-em-up from me for,
I have just been reading Fannin
County (Ga.,y Ga/.ktti-: and I do
be ieve it is the dmUlle-de-fun-delest
paper I ever read in my life—in talks
ab ntt so many tilings* When 1 read
what some chicken man says about
ti e chickens and how nice they are
and how easy it is to raise then 1 i
just get a real chicken fever and j
make mind quit all foolish- '
up my to
i ess and go to raising chickens right
—that is in the daytime but then I:
read a little further and some man,
tells how nice, easy and profitable
it is to raise cattle then I want to do
that; and then comes in the hog man
and every body else and 1 get all
mixed up and conglomerated and sav
please take Fannin Couty (tazettk.
But, sir, I reach the climax of eon-1
fusion when I read “Monthly Talks,” I
1 call it “advice to fanners.” Oh j
how the doctors do differ! and how
1 do get confused. P. J. says:
“don’t stop plowing because it d m’t I
ram or because it has raiueo, but [
keep 011 plowing, now, sir, the mud
on my farm is, 0 feet deep and ri.-
ing—that is it rises evry few days,
especially when it rains, well must I
plow on?” But, sir, my horses
x\ o dd bog and then I tell you it is
auful bad plowing in this black waxy
land when it is wet.
Now Mr. Editor I may some time
in the future send you some adv.ee
as to the farmers as that s 1 he
cheapest thing I know of. I am
1 eeding just now some, advice as to
ihe best methods to get fish out of
the water as I have tried every p)ai,
I have ever heard of or read of and
have failed entirely.
Yours till the rope braks,
Mk. Six Shooter
