A killing took place in Madison county Thursday night of last week. A fourteen-year-old negro boy was shot by a white man. The shoot ing was brought about in this way: The white man had went from a saloon into the woods—i place where the negroes play cards from a aickel up to $5 and $lO a'game. The ngross became involved in a fight, and began throwing rocks— one of tha missiles hitting the white man, while letreating to the woods from/there he had been secreted looking en at the game. Whereupon h® turned—drew his pis.ol and fired into the crowd, hit ting the boy and killing him in staidly. At last acceunls he not been captured. Tr >' L'ACK-UHAL'GUT tea for LygpepMa. 'I elegraphic. When Lockhart was writ ing his admirable life of Sir Waiter he had three copies of the diary printed, and they were shown by him to Mr. Morritt if Rokeby, and to Dean Miiman, in order that they might advise as to what should bo published and what kept back. The time has surely arrived when Ihe complete diary might be given to the world, as all those parsenswhe may be mentioned in it are dc-ad. I suspect that when if is published it will create a sensation. Lock hart wrote to Choker that the diarist “absolved himeelf from any aad very strict watch over hia pen, and set down* much which ths whim, or very often the laziness of the hour con'd alone account for." There must have been much sharp criticism in the di ary, as Lockart added, “Posterity will know (when the whole is puWished) that I, at least, endeavored to avoid offending Scott's surviving c mUropur sues, and I had to spate Tories about as often as Whigs the castigation of the diarizing Malagrowther.”—[L >u ■ion Truth.
