The Oconee Enterprise says perhaps it is not known that there are several pauper coun ties in Georgia. These conn ties do not pay enough into the state fund to balance their pro rata shave of the public fund for the common schools. Banks is not on the pauper list on this score. But we don’t know hew soon siie will be on the pension roll. Every -‘scab ’ in (lie county is being worked up fora pension. The electors receive their fl examination live. The agents work the ap plications through and ri ie on railroad trains and grow fat on the spoils. Bul,“sich” things must be, when Gov. Cordon endorses them and calls for re unions of ilus veteran soldiers. And now, comes Smith from Gwinnett, asking to go to con gress from lire Ninth on these same grounds. Of course the agents and soldiers will go with him. We can not vouch for the medical men. But we be iieve the heart of the people will not indorse such a move. The above is only a shadow of an incite to our thought on this fraud. We may give you more lengthier views when the r gilt time turns up As announced in these col umns, the election for Fence or no Fence in this district, cams off Tuesday. The polls closed about 4 o’clock. About La voies were cast. The Bo Fern men carried the elect ion by 11 majority. We took no issue on either side since the el tion was announced. Neither did we go to the courthouse Tuesday—not own to e:\--t vote—due cur taxes. If noth!ay more. Tlwngh. we will ben citizen of this county tw.o years the ISth day of next April.
