Written for the Journal: —A scene in the far West, there is a place in Texas where tire ticks are so bad that on one o ■ casion they eat up the old cow and got up on a stump and rat tled the bell for the calf, so the witness told me. * Before the war there was a man born and raised in what is now Banks county whose name was Nathen Boling. He be longed to the 24th Georgia regi meat. He died in the army. He told me an anicdote once that he said was so. When he was a boy he went out to hunt the cows and had his shot gun along. On his way he discov ered a deer. Finding his gun empty and having no shot to load with, he rammed down a peach seed and fired away at the deer. Of course the deer ran off. Three or four years liter he was going through the same spot, when ho saw a peach tree full of ripe peaches. So he went to get some when suddenly the deer jumped up and ran off with the tree an 1 the hogs followed squeeling. Sense KIBEK. Boling was with his many friends Sunday, There is some talk of him being a candidate for treasurer next term, and doubtless Be will, for he has had strong solicita tions. Charlie Chambers wore a smile on ins face Sunday, and reports his health fine. It seems that tie professor’s eggs and custard did him good. We notice that the Journal is receiving new subscribers.
