Advice to An Engagd Man.
If you think that a woman is any
weaker minded than a man, stop
where you are.
If you intend to treat yourself any
better than your wife, don't take
one.
If you suppose that running the
house consists in paying the bills,
don’t undertake it.
If you have an idea that you are too
good for a picked up dinner, remain
a bachelor.
If you have found it a hard task
to be happy yourself, don’t try to
make any one else happy
you have chosen a pretty wo—
- an without regard to her other
qualities, halt ; you are one the
wrong road.
If you think a house should have
only one head, and that be yours,
your wedding indefin
itely,
I£you are of the opinion that mar
riage makes the man and wife one,
and that you are that onq. send in
vour regrets at once.
If you are ne of the men who
think that ten per cent of their in
come belongs to the tap-ooom, let
marriage alone.
C. R, Kluger, the Jeweler, 1000 Vir
ginia Ave., Indianapolis, Ind., writes:
“I was so weak from kidney trouble that
I could hardly walk a hundred feet.
Four bottle's of Foley’s Kidney Remedy
cleared my complexion, cured my back
ache and the irregularities disappeared,
and I can now attend to business every
day, and recommend Foley’s Kidney
Re mod y to all sufferers', as it cured me
after the doctors and other remedies had
failed.” For sale by John Hockcnliull.

The need of some place to drop
down for a moment and forget
things is a cr>ing one in moat
homes. There ought to be enough
sofas around to accommodate all
the family. Five minutes rest will
prevent many a family row, and
how can you get rest if you have to
pull shams oft the bed and roll up
the overlid? A shabby old lounge
where you can get at it is worth its
weight in gold, and you won’t
want to die half so many times if
you make use of it. The loosening
of the tension for ever so few min
utes may save your reason some
day. Don’t go out and try to walk
off your worries ; dou’t tell them to
your friend, either. Just throw
yourself down on the sofa for a lit
tle while ; Rhut your eyes and pre
tend you have no care. The wor
ries will be lighter before you real
ize it, vour brain will be clearer and
your heart stronger to meet those
that press closest.

cured my boy of a severo cough, and a

cold that the doctors gave him up, was
cured by taking Foley’s Honey and Tar.”

The Evil in Fretting.
There is one sin which seems to
us is everywhere and by everybody
underestimated and quite too much
overlooked in valuation of charac
ter. It is the sin of fretting, so
common that unless it rises above
its usual monotone we do not ob
serve it. Watch any ordinary
coming together of people and see
how many minutes it will be before
somebody frets—that is, makes
more or less complaining statement
of something or other, which most
probably every one in the room, or
in the car, or on the street corner,
it may be, knew before, and which
probably no one can help. Why
say anything about it? It is cold,
it is hot. it is wet, it is dry, some
body has broken an appointment;
ill cooked a meal ; stupidly or bad
faith somewhere has resulted in dis
comfort .
There are plenty of things to fret
about. It is simply astonishing
how much annoyance may be
found in the course of every day’s
living, even at the simplest, if one
only keeps a sharp eye out on that
side of things. Even holy writ says
we are prone to trouble as sparks
to fly upward. But even to the
sparks flying upward in the black
est of smoke there is a blue sky a
bove, and the less time they waste
on the road the sooner they will
reach it. Fretting is all time wast
on the road.

How to tell her age.
Girls of marriageable age do not
like to tell how old they are, but
you can find out by following the
subjoined instructions, the young
lady doing the figuring: Tell her
to put down the number of the
month in ill which she was born,
them to multiply it by 2, then to
add 5. then to multiply it by 50,
then to add her age, then to sub
tract i’26, th-nto add 115,
then tell her to tell you the amount
she has left. The two figures on
the right will tell you her age and
the remainder the month of her
birth. For example, if the amount
is 522. she is twenty-two years old
and was born in the eighth month
(August). Try it.

Women Suffer Agonies
from Diseased Kidneys
And Most Women Do This Not Knowing the
Real Cause of their Condition
These poor, suffering women
have been led to believe that their
misery of mind and body is entire
ly due to "ilia of their sex." Usually
the kidneys and bladder are re
sponsible—or largely so. And in
such cases, the kidneys and blad
der are the organs, that need and
must have attention.
Those torturing, enervating sick
headaches, dragging pains in back,
groin and limbs, bloating and swell
ing of the extremities, extreme
nervousness or hysteria, listlcss
ness and constant tired, worn-out
feeling—are almost certain symp
toms of disordered and diseased
kidneys, bladder and liver.
DeWitt’s Kidney and Bladder
Pills have, In thousands of cases,
been demonstrated as remarkably
beneficial in all such conditions of
female organism—affording the
most prompt relief and permanent
benefit.
As an Illustration of what these
Pills will do, Mrs. P. M. Bray of
Columbus, Ga., writes that she was
very ill with kidney trouble, and
that she is now well —and that
these Pills are what cured her.
They are very pleasant to take,
and can in no case, produce any
deleterious effects upon the system
