Mr. Dunham representing the Kelley, Knight Motor Car Cos of Atlanta, has been in town this week, advertising their car. Mr Hoyt Brannon left Tues day for Dawsonville, where he has accepted a position as cashier of the bank at that place. We hate to lose Hoyt but wish him mighty well in his new home. Mr. L. P. Dimsdale, of Mil ton county, and Miss Fannie Merritt, of. route 4, were quietly married Sunday, Judge H. V. Jones performing the ceremony. The North Geor gian extends congratulations. An interesting debate was held at the school building Tuesday afternoon. The sub ject was, Resolved, That the north has furnished more great men than the south. The affirmative won. The speakers were aff. Q. R. Williams, Ar nold Williams. Neg. Augus tus Hughes and Judge Wil liams. G. W. Postmaster Ed Puett has received a comm unication from Fourth Assistant Post master General DeGraw, re questing that owners of rural delivery mail boxes paint them white, in order that they might be more conspicuous, giving all boxes a uniform color, and fixing their identity as United States mail boxes. A request was also made on the road au thorities that at cross roads the names of towns to which the road lead be painted on the mail box posts. Mr Henry Green and sister Miss Beulah visited Mr Oliver Higgins near Crabapple Saturday night and Sunday, What has become of the rail road? I don’t hear much talk of it tor the last few weeks, but hope it will come, I think a railroad would be a great help in our com munity. Miss Ida Ramsey spent last week with relatives near Heardville. Quarterly meeting will beheld at Midway on May 6th. Why not organize a Sunday school at Midway? Mrs Mattie Cannon is visiting her parents Mr and MrsW M Hun ter this week. Mr W H D Puckett come very near being burned out Sunday night, by emptying some ashes out in some leaves. As news is scarce, we will have to skidoo Two Little Grasshoppers. NEW HOPE After a vacation of 3 months our Sunday school has started up a gain. Every Sunday in the p. m. at o o’clock, Everybody invited to come out and help us carry out a successful school. Several of the boys from around here made a pleasure trip to Athens Sunday last. Misses Jamie Smith and Maude Wingo spent last Sunday with Msss Laura McClure. . Mr Jef Jones and family and Mr Charlie Jones and sister Mae, from near Suwanee, visited rela tives here Saturday night and Sun day last. j > ’ -‘1 Miss Rozzie Wingo visited Miss Lula Smith Sunday. The New Hope string band made music at Mt Zion Saturday night, where they were having a box supper, Mrs Della Barron happened to the misfortune to lose a fine cow last week. Miss Jewell Smith was a recent visitor in our community. Edrith the little daughter of Mr and Mr* Robert Reid who has been quite ill with pneumonia, is improving. Mr Arnold Williams was the week-end guest of friends at Hosch tou. Mr and Mrs Willie Dillars were the guests of friends on route 6 Saturday and Sunday. Mr Cbcar Dollar and wife, of Buford, spent Saturday and Sun day on route 0. Mr R ilph Williams left Satur day for Roschton, where he will spend sometime. Mrs A M Bell with Master Har ley Bell 6peut Thursday in Alphar etta. Mrs L Y Jones, of Big Creek, has returned home from a several weeks visit to Mrs R N Rogers. Mr and Mrs William P Bell have moved to Mr Anderson S Bell’* place since his death. Mr Ernest H Rogers spent Thursday in Atlanta. Mr and Mrs Cooper, of Grayson, were the guests of Mr and Mrs A L Rogers Sunday. Miss Maggie Medlock is visiting relatives in Roswell. Miss Ada Burton spent several days with relatives in South Ga recently. Regina. - 1 — - ■ Another Jewell Called Home. Alfonso Clayton, died at his home near Mat, Forsyth county Ga., March the 14th, and was buried at Zion Mill church March, 20th. Fansy as he was commonly called was born March the Ist 1890, and pro fessed a hope in Christ, about the age of eleven years old, and shortly after wards attached himself to the Baptist church, and lived a very quiet and or derly life, until his death. lie had been a sufferer for three years of that dreaded disease consumption, but when all the skill of the best physicians and the tender care that could be bestowed by tender hands and loving hearts, was exosted God saw fit to call him home. About ten days before his death, he v4as taken with 51 ot-vre ahd saw his time on earth was short, he felt that lie had done so little for his blessed redeemer, and as he him self expressed had failed to live as dutiful as he should, he* felt that he was an heir of God, at all he was the least of all, beingburdened so much he sent a message for Rev. C. A. Wallace, before Bro.
