Mrs. Sams, mother of Mrs,
G. W. Heard, died at the
home of Geo. W. Heard, in
Cumming, last Sunday morn
ing. She had been sick for
quiie a while, and her death
was unexpected. She was a
bout 80 years old, and was a
consecrated Christian, she
was buried at Friendship oft
Monday, after appropriate
services. She leaves several
children and numbers of
grand-children, besides other
relatives and friends to mourn
her loss.

Mr. Luther, representing
the Hartford Fire Insurance
Company, was here last week.
He came up to adjust the loss
on the residence of J. E.
Kirby, cause by the recent
fir.®. Notwithstanding the
fact that the fire originated
from the use of gasoline,
which is strictly prohibited.
Mr. Luther, paid the damage
without a murmur. This
speaks well for the Company,
which is noted for its liberal
ity to its policy holders. Mr.
S. H. Allen is the local agent
here;
Gumming Circuit Conference.
The fourth quarterly con
ference of the Cumming Cir
cuit will meet at Antioch
church Wednesday Oct. 18,
at 11 a. m. Preaching at that
hour by the Presiding Elder,
and the business session at 2
p. m.
Dinner will be provided on
the grounds for all who come.
This will be the last confer
ence held at old Antioch
church and a large crowd is
expected to come. All the
official members are urged to
be present with a good re
port of the year’s work.
