General and active interest
that is being manifested through
out the state in the good roads
bond issue is extremely gratify
ing, according to J. B. Daniel,
President of the Geotgia Good
Roads Association.
There is unquestionably a dis
position on the part of the public
to regard the good roads move
ment as a real business proposi
tion in which every citizen of the
state is directly concerned. If
Georgia’s progress is to be in
keeping with other progressive
states, it is recognized as being
imperative that we now com
mence an extensive program of
highway construction, said Mr.
Daniel,
Hearty approval of the plan to
build a great network of good
roads which will link every coun
ty seat in the state, as proposed
by the good roads association, is
withheld by some of our citizens
until they can familiarize-them
selves more thoroughly with the
plan of financing the project.
With this attitude, the good
roads’ association is in thorough
accord.
The method and plan of float
ing and retiring this bond issue
is a simple, clear and sound bus
iness proposition. It is simply
consolidating and utilizing reven
ues now made available by taxa
tion for road purposes in a way
that permanent and lasting good
will be derived from the expen
ditures. Not one penny of ad
ditional taxational is involved in
the plan. Furthermore, the ap
proval of the provisions of the
constitutional amendment nec
essary to the issue of good roads
eonds will also enable the state
to meet every requirement of
federal laws which provide fed
eral aid to the states on the aon
struction of roads.
There is not the slightest doubt
that when this is thor
oughly understood it will be so
overwhelmingly indorsed by the
people that the passage of the
necessary laws to carry to com
pletion this great undertaking
will be assured.

Quite a difference you willjsay, but in one respect
there is a sim laity. A bar-keeper used to buy a barrel
of corn liquor and make two barrels out of it. Some re
finers blend, mix and compound their oils. The bar
keeper didn’t mix water with his liquor to make it bet
ter, neither does the refiner mix his oil to make it.better;
both were mixed because there was more profit to the
dealer, and because the buyer could be fooled-
