new residence in east Summerville
a few days ago.
Mr. T. J. Lea, who has been occu
pying the Powell house for some
time past, moved to Chattanooga
this week.
Last week Mr. A. L. Dalton killed
two wild turkeys on the ridge back
of Mr. Dwight Carpenter’s resi
dence. Mr. Dalton wounded another
but it succeeded in getting away.
We would be glad if our friends
at the different offices in the county
would write us on a postal, any local
news that would prove of general
interest. This will help make your
county paper interesting and will
be a favor that we will appreciate.

Last Friday our good friend H.
G. Moore, of near Kartah, brought
to the News office a potato which
weighei seven pounds for which he
has our thanks. This is the largest
we have heard of yet, and if a few
more of our friends will follow suit,
we hope to get through the winter
all right..
Mr. G. J. Moyers, Superintendant
of the Methodist Sunday school at
this place, says he has only missed
attending the school five Sundays
in the past eighteen years. On one
of these days he was sick and an.
other time was attending a meeting
at another place. Very few men
we imagine, can show a record so
good as this.

arrested.”
“But I‘ve got a telegram here from
Col Frierson saying to send them
down to night,” says Jack, “and I
thought it was all right.”
By that time the conductor had
became somewhat pacified and ex
plained that his train could not
stop for any way freight and get
ting aboard was s oon on his way to
