There have been a few cases of
measles in town during the past two
weeks. None, however, proved se
rious.
Mr. J. M. Wyatt, of Raccoon fac
tory, was dangerously ill last week
and at one time it was thought he
could not recover. 'Die latest in

that he is somewhat better.
Hon. W. M. Henry has been re
tained to aid the prosecution in the
case of the state against J. B. S.
Holmes.
The selection of Mr. A. It. Steele
as manager of Trion factory seems
to have given general satisfaction.
He is certainly the right man for
the place.
Mr. As M. Street left the first of
the week on a business trip through
middle Tennessee and will probably
be gone a week.
Charley Kellett would like to
have his friends call on him at the
Cureton old stand. He has a full
line of all kinds of Whiskies Wines
Brandies, and Pickens county Corn

It is thought that court will not
last over three days at this place!

who has had a grocery in town for
the past year in charge of S. B.
, Hawkins, has discontinued the btisi
( ness. Charley Kellett has taken out
license and opened up at his old
stand.
The insurance policy on the life
. of the late I). F. Allgood for $20,000,
i on which it was thought the last
premium had not been paid, proves
to be in force. This goes to Mr.
Allgood's little son and makes the
total insurance in force $50,000.
C. ('. (’leghorn says there is more
valuable iron ore in the territory
between Summerville and Dalton
than in any section with which he
.is acquainted. This is along the
proposed route for the Huntsville
and Gainesville railroad and will
no doubt be developed soon.
Summerville spent fully $5,000 in 1
church and school buildings last
year. Every dollar was given with
out expectation of any return ex
cept in the general benefit to the
community. Surely this is not a
bad showing for a town of 800 in
habitants. But in this connection
it should not be forgotten that the
people of the surrounding commun
ity have aided the people of the
town generously and liberaly.
