A Song of Seasons.
Winter time, my dearie, .
Is glooming on the hills;
Little less of music
la the ripple of the rills.
And birds that once were singing
sweet
Will soon forget to sing,
But love is still a rose, iny dear.
And winter’s sweet as spring!
What though the snows are drift
ing—
What though the mists are gray
Atrl violets are a fair, far dream
In phantom fields of May?
What through the streams have lost
their gleams
And birds forget to sing?
There’s music in the heart, my dear,
And winter’s sweet as spring!

WHERE IS HEAVEN?
Evangelist Moody Does Not Con
sider its Location an Impor
tant Matter-
“Perhaps the first question that pres
ents itself regarding Heaven is its lo
cation,” writes Evangelist Dwight L.
Moody in the Ladies’ Home
Journal. “For my part, lam not sat
isfied with the vagueness that describes
my future home as everywhere and
nowhere. I read that the Master prem
ised His Disciples an abode in His Fath
er's mansions whither He was going to
prepare them a place, and in the Rev
elation the Apostle John described the
wondrous beauties of the City ol God.
The Evangelist Luke tells us that Christ
ascended from the little group of His
Disciples as they followed Him out to
ward Bethany, and that while they
stood gazing up into Heaven there ap
peared unto them two messengers to
cheer them with the promise of His
coming again. And so it is with the
child of God when the earthly pilgrim
age is over, the soul ascends to those
mansions which Christ has gone on be
fore to prepare for t hose who love Him.
The localion Heaven is not an im
portant matter. Christ said very little
about its situation, but a great deal a
bout its being with God. To be sure
God is everywhere, but Heaven is His
Home, it is the ‘Father’s house.’ Il is
not the homestead that makes home
the most attractive place on earth, but
it is those who live there. And so it
will be with Heaven.”

Good Advice.
Running a newspaper is like run
ning a hotel only its different. A
man goes into a hotel for his din
ner and if he finds upon the table
something that does not suit his
taste he does not go up and throw
the landlord down stairs and tell
him to stop his hotel. He sim
ply partakes of what he likes.
How different with newspapers.
When a subscriber finds a tw j
line item that does not suit him
he never stops to think that the
item may please others, but he
rushes off to the newspaper office,
puffs, and blows like a locomotive
and orders the paper stopped im
mediately if not sooner. But the
paper does not stop. But his pa
per stops going to him and goes to
someone else, who subscribed sim
ply because he was pleased with
the article that offended the other
man. They the quitter will find
out.how much he is missed by
stricking his finger in a bowl of
water, then withdrawing it and
looking for the hole. People
must realize that a paper is pub
lished to satisfy as many people.
All sorts of news for all sorts of
people and if you do strike an item
that does not suit you, just let it go
for the use of the other fellow

QUEEN BEHIN D THE FINGER. I
Lilian Bell Gets Her First Taste 1
of Real Liberty in England.
Miss Lilian Bell, who is narraiing :
her impressioas of the Old World and
its people for the L-idies’ Home Jour
nal, writes from London, in the Nov
ember issue of that magazine: “I have
seen the Houses of Parliament and the
Woild’s Fair, but the most impnssive
sight I ever beheld is the upraised hand
of a London policeman. 1 never heard .
one of them speak except when spoken !
to. But let one little blue-coated man
raise his forefinger and every vehicle I
on wheels stops, and stops instantly; j
stops in obedience to law and order; |
slops without swearing or gesticulati g
or abuse; stops with no underhanded
trying to drive out of Hue and get by |
ou the other side: just Mops, that is the
end of it. And why? Because the
Queen of England is behind that raised
finger. Why, a London policeman has
more power than our President. Even
the Queen’s coachman obexs that fore
finger. Understanding how to obey,
that is what makes liberty.
“I am the most flamboyant of Amer
icans, the most hopelessly addicted to
my own country, but I must admit that
I had my first real taste of liberty in
England. I will tell you why. In A
merica nobody obeys anybody. We
make our laws, and then most indus
triously set about studying out a plan
by which we may evade them. Amer
ica is suffering, as all republics must
of necessity suffer, from liberty in the
hands of the multitude. The multi
tude are ignorant, and liberty in the
hands of the ignorant is always li
cense.”
