Mr. W. T. Cheney of Rome,
who was appointed by the Geor
gia Fruit Growers Association at
Macon as one ol the distribution
committee, met a number of the
Chattooga fruit, growers at the
court house Wednesday. All the
growers present signed the agree
nient which has beenpreparod by
this committee. Any other fruit
growers in the county wishing to
take advantage of the organiza
tion can get one of the contracts
by writing to Mr. Cheney. \\e
believe that this is the very best
thing the growers can do and that
the advantage gained by it will by
far exceed all expenses attached
to it.

The Chattooga county demo
cratic executive committee met
last Monday. Their acts and do
ings are printed elsewhere in this
issue. The members of the com
mittee sire democratsof the “rock
ribbed, copper bottom" kind.
They merit high commendation
for their prompt and positive re
fusal to endorse the caption or
pledge on the democratic state
ticket, except as it applies to the
present state election. This will i
meet the hearty approval of a
great majority of democrats of
the county. We can hardly think
of any man who places any value
on his individuality and freedom
pledging himself to vote just for
any man who might be nominated I
two years hence.
