The Value of a Remedy is Proven by its Cure Er.KweoD, Ala., Dec. 14, 1908. Dr. Kilmer & Co., Binghamton, N. Y. Dear Sirs:—l have derived such great benefit from the use of yourrem edy, Swamp-Root, that I believe it to be most important for the public to know its worth. For the past ten years I have been the most miserable of men. Did not know what the trouble was but had to urinate very frequent ly both day and night; wis all puffed up generally. Could not sleep more than a couple of hours at a time, was greatly distressed after eating a meal and was about worn out. I had tried nearly everything I could see adver tised and hear of, withont helping me to any great extent, nntil finally in Octobf r last at Ripan, Wis., I pur chased a or e dollar bottle of Swamp- Root and commenced taking it accord ing to directions and I followed that with another bottle and experienced such great relief and benefit from same that I purchased five dollars worth at Huntsville, Ala , and contin ued its use and am now taking it, but in smaller doses and twice a day in place of four times a day and believe by the time present suply is used up I will be entirely well. lam feeling bet ter now than for ten years past. Can eat and sleep first class, in fact I am feeling so good that I cannot resist telling you about it. You are at liber ty to publish this testimonial should you wish, ver.y Respectfully, THOS. STALLARD, U. 8. A, Retired, Box 7, R. R. No. 2, Elkwood, Ala. A Clergyman. New Roads, La., Jan. 22, 190 J). Dr. Kilmer & Co., Binghampton, N. Y. Dear -irs:—l write today to the pub lic that your Swamp-Root cured me of kidney trouble. I was almost past go ing; having spasmodic spells with my kidneys that were breaking down my constitution. The best medical aid was employed and they pronounced my trouble as alkali in the kidneys, but were unable to do me any perma nent good. I took four bottles of Swamp-Root and became a well man. This was six years ago and I have had no trace of the trouble. Yours for suffering men, REV. J. R. TAYLOR. Pastor Baptist church. New Roads, La. Mail Carrier’s Experience Blountville, Tenn. I have been a rural letter carrier for over five years. Some two years ago I was taken with severe pains in my back. I used medicine from my fam ily physician for several months with out any benefit. A friend, Mr. C. D. i Nelson, advised me to try your Swamp Root, but I had no faith in it. I con tinued to grow worse and at last de cided to try this remedy and bought of Long Bros, a fifcy-cent bottle which gave me great relief. I then bought two one dollar bottles, which I cin truthfully say have completely cured me. Had it not been for Swam-Root, I would have been compelled to quit the rural free delivery service. I advise all mail carriers who get pains in their back that Swamp-Root will cure them. I was so bad that very often my wife would have to help me to arise. M. B. FIVE LITTLE SERMONS It has been well said that the man who lives to please himself will find that he has a hard mas ter. Self-indulgence is a habit that grows and a habit that drive with a chain of evils, selfishness, folly, extravagance, following in its wake. Xo real man will wish to be come mushy. But that is what happens to one who gets in a '•soft’’ place. Life is full of com pensations. The man who hasharc work to do, and who does it, will rise to meet his responsibilities and grow in power as the years pass. The man who takes it easy, decays. Do not place too high a val uation on money and the things that money can buy. These thing: are splendid possessions, but in gaining them, see to it that you do not lose the things that mon ey cannot buy, and that are bet ter than all the money in the world. The richest man in the world is he whose, integrity oes not bow to the goddess on the dollar. The study of ereed and dogma is an excellent intellectual exer cise, hut it doesn’t bring salva tion. The world could get along just as well if theology had nev er been invented. The most im portant thing is to be kindly and helpful. And that isn't theology, it’s just religion. The creed of Jesus Christ, the parable of the Good Samaritan, and the golden rule, says Justice Brewer, is his belief. That is pretty good work ing capital for this earth. The place to teach things is at the mother’s knee. The effect ol the first seven years of teaching can’t be wiped out by twice that many years of preaching. The first and greater duty and respon sibility rests on the parent. The father and mother are the only people on earth who can eileetive ly form a human nature. After the period of childhood, only the power of an Omnipotent Being can reform it. The parent, the Sunday school teacher and the school teacher have a. great work to do.—Rome Tribune. You can’t always tell what will happen . For instance, there is a story of a man who determined to commit suicide, lie went to the store and bought a rope, a dose of arsnic. and a revolver. He went down to the river and pushed the boat from the shore and waded to where a limb hung over, saturated his clothing with oil, lighted a match and set fire to his clothing, took the dose ol arsnic, put the muzzle of the revolver to his temple, pushed tin boat from under him and pulled •the trigger. But the bullet glanced and cut the rope above him and he feel kerflop into the river; the water put the fire out and he got strangled and cough cd up the arsnic.. He rose and waded out, and declared himself a candidate for the legislature on the reform ticket.—Marietta Journal. Ella—“ Bell told me that you told her that secret that 1 told you not so tell her.’’ Stella—“ She’s a mean thing. I told her not to tell you I told her.” Ella—“ Well, I told her I wouldn’t tell you she told me — so don’t tell her I did.” —Ex- A Common Cold We claim that if catching cold could be avoided some of the most dangerous and fatal diseases owuld never be heard of. A cold often forms a culture bed for germs of infectious diseases. Consumption, pneumonia, diptheria and Scarlet fever, four of the most dangerous and fatal disease: are of this class. The culture bed formed by the cold favors the devel opment of the germs of these diseas es, that would not otherwise find lod gement. There is little danger, however of any of these diseases be ing contracted when a good expector ant cough remedy like Chamberlain’s Cough Remedy is used. It cleans out these culture beds that favor the de velopmet of the germs o fthese dis eases. That is why this remedy has proved so universally successful in preventing pneumonia. It not only cures your cold quickly, j but minimizes the risk of contracting I hese dangerous diseases. For sale by Summerville Drug fl*. | r.inv.iu.l mi... " • I CASTO d A\egclablePrcpncatimil tAs !
