IN THE SPANISH AMERICAN WAR During the Spanish American War, many of our soldiers suffer ed severely from cramp in the stomach and bowels, due in most cases to the change of climate and the water they were obliged to drink. Mr. Geo. A. Lake, of Dennison, Texas, gives an interesting ac count of how he came to the re lief of some of the men in his regiment:—“Just as J was start ing for the war,’’ says Mr. Lake, “Mr. Davis gave m< a large bot tle of Sloan's Liniment. 1 used it in our troop at ('amp Mohrey for cramps and dysentery among the men. It took finely and lots of the boys of Troop L, Ist Tex. Cav. U. S. V., will never forget the name of Sloan's Liniment. One case in particular was our bugler, Fred Ormsley; he was cramped until he could hardly stand it. 1 gave him a dose of Sloan’s Liniment and in five min utes he was up and ready to go on with the troop.’’ Every druggist, carries Sloan’s Liniment in stock. THE SUMMERVILLE NEWS, THURSDAY, MARCH 11, 1909. TELOGA, GA I will write a few lines giving my views of the past and the possibilities of the future. It was the discovery of Amer ica that gave an outlet to the cramped old world and the dawn of a better day came from the wes The opening of this vast territory was the opening of prison doors to the oppressed and broke up the stagnation and brutality of the feudal system. For several centuries America remained the hope and refuge of the poor. It was the new frontier that brought better things and a hope for the world. But now the frontier is closed. It is possible for Ameri ca, however, to again be the sun rising of a better age. If we will perfect the work of democracy which we began, if we will contin ue to revolutionize all things, if we shall assimilate the world in to a real organized brotherhood it can be done. Socialism is the completion of this work. It is industrial democracy, an enlarge ment of the American ideal. It is a completion of the revolution in in dustry which was effected by the machine, it is a complete organization of society in the in terest of all. .Shall the new day dawn in the United States and shall it eminate from the light of your brain and the fire of your hearts. L. L. N. Good Cough Medicine for Children The season for coughs and colds is now at hand and too much care cannot be used to protect the children. A child is much more likely to contract diphtheria or scarlet fever when he has a cold. The quicker you cure his cold the less the risk. Chamberlain’s Cough Remedy is the sole re liance of many mothers, and few of those who have tried it are willing to use any other. Mrs. F F. Starcher, of Ripley, W. Va. says: “I have never used any thing other than Chamberlain's Cough Remedy for my children, and it has always given good sat isfaction.” This remedy contains no opium or other narcotic and may be given as confidently to a child a-s to an adult. DON’T BE MISLED The retail druggists of this country , as a class, are noted for their high standard of intelligence and honorable dealing, but it is a well known fact that occasionally you will find one who will try to sell you something else when you call for a remedy of estab tablished reputation. He forgets that your health is more impor tant than his pocketbook. For example, when you ask for Dr. Kilmer’s Swamp Root, the great Kidney, Liver and Bladder Remedy, don’t let any druggist drug clerk or storekeeper persu ade you into buying something else in its place. Every time he succeeds in selling you worthless substitutes he makes more prof it, but you are humbugged at the expense of your health. For many years we have watch ed with much interest the remark able record maintained by Dr. Kilmer’s Swamp-Root. From the very beginning, the proprietors had so much confidence in it that they invited every one to send for a free sample bottle so that people could judge of its great curative value in even the most distressing cases of kidney and lived and bladder troubles. On another page of this paper you will find a few of the letters prompted by feelings of heartfelt gratitude, that are constantly coming to Dr. Kilmer & Co. No one can doubt such sincere and honest testimony. Swamp-Root is prepared only by Kilmer & Co. Laboratories Binghampton, N. Y Don't ex periment—ls you need a medi cine you should have the best.
