IN LOVING MEMORY
On March 24, 1909, remarkable
as it may seem, the death of Mr.
Walter Vanpelt occurred just 12
hours after that of his wife, Mrs.
Vanpelt died Wednesday morn
ing at 5:30 o’clock and Mr. Van
pelt died Wednesday night at 9.
It makes us feel sad to know
that they are no more with us
on this earth. But we know God
is just and good to all. May God
help us all to so live that when
we too are called to go we will
meet them in the great beyond,
where sad partings come no more
They will be sadly missed in the
community where they lived, but
most by the loved ones from
whom they have gone. They will
feel most deeply the loss ol these
two loved ones. Their places
are forever vacant in their home,
which no one can fill. They ean
not come back to us but we can
go to them.
We would say to the surviving
loved ones to not think of them
as b ing in the grave but have
crossed over the river of death
and are now resting in the sweet
eternal, where there is no sick
ness, no death, no sorrows, but
with Him on high.
So amid our despondent hours
trust him who will be our best
friend and will comfort us when
he takes our loved ones away.
May God bless the broken heart
ed ones in this the darkest hours
of their lievs; the little girl who
is left without a father and with
out a mother, May the good
Lord guide and direct her little*
footsteps that she may meet pa
pa and mama in and through the
pearly gates of heaven.
J. W. 11.
We often wonder how any person
can be persuaded into taking anything
but Foley’s Honey and Tar for
coughs, colds and lung trouble. Do
not be fooled into accepting "onw
make” or other substitutes. The
genuine contains no harmful drugs
and is in a yellow package. Sold by
all druggists.

admit that he is wrong than to
admit the other fellow is right.

Many people object to taking the
strong medicies usually prescrib'd by
physicians for rheumat’sm. 1 here is
no need of internal treatment in ant

ten cases of the disease ’re of one or

there is no fever and little (if any)

necessary to apply ( ham ber lain s

THE PENNIES IN THE BOX.
i
I’m Uncle Sam’s most favored pet
I'm hearty and I’m hale ,
I’ve nothing in this world to do,
But glide ’round with the mail;
But one thing almost breaks my
heart,
And my nervous system shocks,
It’s the everlasting pennies,
That I’m fishing out of the box.
1 carry stamps and envelops,
And postiil cards and such ,
And I’d like to sell a few,
T'would please me very much.
But a man can't sell unless you
buy,
No matter how he talks.
So I have to keep on driving,
For the pennies in the box.
I’ts all right in the springtime,
Or when summer breezes blow;
But a different proposition
When it’s thirty-two below;
When all your fingers and your
toes
Are frozen hard as rocks,
It’s anything but funny
Scratching pennies from the box.
And now quite confidentially,
I’ll tell you something more:
A rural carrier in our town
Forgot himself and swore;
Says he, I can stand the snow
drifts
I can stand the frozen locks,
But blast the measly pennies
In the blasted, measly box.
When the roll is called up yonder
And we shall gather there,
T1 ey wouldn’t let a mail man in
If they knew he’d learned to
swear.
If you want St. Peter to open the
gate
When y >ur rural carrier knocks,
Buy stamps and don’t be guilty
O’ putting pennies in the box.
—Postmaster’s Advocate.
