I hope that there will still be thousands of us for many years to come. I don’t care myself if all that are now living live on to be be as old as Methusalah was. We are a fine lot of men and we .just as well be living as not if it. he God’s will for us to remain to a good old age. 1 have no objection for this is the best place we have ever known so far, and 1 sincerely hope that none of us will ever die, but that when we fall asleep that we will awake in a better world where none ever die, where there is no pensions or claims, no sickness, no sorrow and no death, where all is joy. peace and love forever.. We are having a right cool spell for Easter. We hope that when this cool spell is over that the farmers can go to plowing for we are getting anxious to do some planting so we can see it grow and make a full crop. We as farmers love to have some thing growing, something coming in to live on. J. F. Brown of Euharlee at tended Presbytery at Menlo last week and on his way home came by C'hattoogaville where he found his wife visiting her old neigh bors where they lived ten years ago. Now as to cotton. I do hope the acreage will be greatly cut down this year, for I think the time has about arrived to do something that will be of a per manent value to farmers. I hear a good many talking of sowing more wheat another year, but that is not helping the price of flour now. I hear a great many say “1 am going to plant corn enough to do me,” but it has not reduced the price yet on corn. I hear some say, “Oh, when I get out of debt 1 will raise mules, cattle, hogs, corn and hay,” but now is the time. If you ever expect to be a successful farmer you must raise your own supplies and make the farm self sustain ing. I do not think there will be much fruit this year, that is Elbertas, as they are falling off very fast and look rather faulty on the trees. 1 have seen the man that want ed to be set across the river and had no money sinee writing last week, lie said I did not tell all the ferryman said for he was rough ami did not talk any Sun day school talk. They liked to have had to stay on the same side they were on. But they finally did stike a trade in a knife swap and they got over to the desired side, like the Dutchman went to Heaven, with a tight squeeze. W. L. Gaylor sold a mule to T. J. Foster Saturday for S2OO. Mules are very high and still cot ton is less than 10 cents. If a good mule is worth two hundred dollars cotton ought to be worth to equalize the price of mules ami cotton 20 cents pound. Cotton should be worth 20 cents | a pound if corn is worth SI.OO a| bushel. If meat is 10 cents cot-1 ton would do at 10 cents. has to buy are now clean out of, reason compared to the way cot-i ton is selling. G. A. RAGLAND.
