SEMINOLE
People here are beginning to
catch up with their work. Most
all are done planting cotton and
there is a good deal of corn plant
ed, but still a good deal to plant.
Drs. T. S. Ragland and family
and Marcus Ragland and family
are visiting their parents at
Chattoogaville. Dr. T. S. Rag
land and family are from Gilmer,
Texas, and Dr. Marcus Ragland
and family are from Salisbury,
N. C. They will remain here a
few days. Dr. T. S. Ragland will
go home by the way of Atlanta;
Dr. Marcus Ragland will go to
Attalla, Ala., before going back
to North Carolina. We are en
joying their visit fine.
Our cotton and corn is coming
up nicely, most people have good
stands of cotton. Gardens are
looking well.
We had a.nice rain Saturday
night and crops are looking well
where the land has been properly
prepared. From now on will be
a busy time with the farmers.
We, as a general thing, have to
make our crops in about 100 days
Our winters, of late years, are
generally so wet and cold we
have to wait until spring time
comes and that is generally late.
So we are compelled to work in
a hurry while we do work.
Mr. M. T. Edwards and Miss
Whitfield were joined in the ho
ly bonds of matrimony by the
last Friday evening. We mtfW
congratulate them and wish for
them a long and prosperous life.
Miss Whitfield is a daughter of
our clever and good citizen, Mr.'
J 11. Whitfield. Mr. Edwards
is one of our best farmers in
Seminole.
Mr. Jim Witt showed for us
at the school house Friday night
and entertained a large audience
for about two hours. One-tenth
of the proceeds will be given to
church purposes. I suggest that
the amount be used for repaint
ing the school house.
So I must close, wishing the
editor and readers of The News
a prosperous year. With best
and kindest wishes to everybody
I close with love to all. -
G. A. RAGLAND.
