VOL. XXII NO. 11. TRION Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Brown and little daughter, Charlotte, came down from Chattanooga Sunday. Mr. Brown returned Sunday af ternoon. Mrs. Brown and Char lotte will remain at the Trion Inn for several weeks and then visit relatives in Carrollton and Louisville, Ky. 'Mr. A. S. Routh and daughter. Miss Mary Routh, and grandson, Master Dougherty Mallicoat, left Friday to occupy their home for the summer at Men tone. Mrs. Bob Sims and children and Miss Ella Anderson came up from Holland and spent a few days with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Aderson. They re turned home Monday. Mr. J. 11. Funderburk reeeiv de a message Saturday that his father, Mr. I. C. Funderburk, had died suddenly in Rome. He was 86 years old at the time of his death. Mr. and Mrs. Funder burk and Master Marvin drove down and returned Monday. Miss Mary Nell Spencer spent the week end with Miss Mary Lizzie Rose in Lyerly. Mrs. S. A. Mllinax is convales cing from the grip. To accommodate the people in the mill the tax assessor has prom ised to be in Trion on June 3rd. Mr. Robt. Rainy of near Mar tindale dropped dead soon after breakfast Monday morning. Walter Coker and Oscar Thompson left Tuesday for Ma rietta. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Ragland of Chattoogaville visited Mrs. A. L. Ragland Saturday and Sunday Miss Buddie Cordle spent last week with Mrs. Lillie Bailey at Green Bush. The Trion Public school will give their entertainment Tues day night, May 25, instead of May 21, as was mentioned in last week’s paper. The exercises will be§in promptly at 7:30. Misses Hattie Strozier and Maud Thomas went down to Summerville Friday. Miss Annie Jackson visited her homefolks at Chattooga Sunday. Deed Ratliff is at home from Ponder Springs. He will leave shortly for Atlanta to accept a position there. Mr. Rex Wyatt spent Sunday in Menlo. Mrs. J. 11. Thomas and Miss Maud 'I hoinas spent Saturday in Chattanooga. Messrs. Most all are done planting cotton and there is a good deal of corn plant ed, but still a good deal to plant. Drs. T. S. Ragland and family and Marcus Ragland and family are visiting their parents at Chattoogaville. Dr. T. S. Rag land and family are from Gilmer, Texas, and Dr. Marcus Ragland and family are from Salisbury, N. C. They will remain here a few days. Dr. T. S. Ragland will go home by the way of Atlanta; Dr. Marcus Ragland will go to Attalla, Ala., before going back to North Carolina. We are en joying their visit fine. Our cotton and corn is coming up nicely, most people have good stands of cotton. Gardens are looking well. We had a.nice rain Saturday night and crops are looking well where the land has been properly prepared. From now on will be a busy time with the farmers. We, as a general thing, have to make our crops in about 100 days Our winters, of late years, are generally so wet and cold we have to wait until spring time comes and that is generally late. So we are compelled to work in a hurry while we do work. Mr. M. T. Edwards and Miss Whitfield were joined in the ho ly bonds of matrimony by the last Friday evening. We mtfW congratulate them and wish for them a long and prosperous life. Miss Whitfield is a daughter of our clever and good citizen, Mr.' J 11. Whitfield. Mr. Edwards is one of our best farmers in Seminole. Mr. Jim Witt showed for us at the school house Friday night and entertained a large audience for about two hours. One-tenth of the proceeds will be given to church purposes. I suggest that the amount be used for repaint ing the school house. LYERLY MEN INDICTED BY FEDERAL GRAND JURY Grayson Shearer, T. J. Wadkins. Eugene Hammonds, John Nich olson and John High, who were bound over by United States Commissioner John C. Printup on a charge of burning the postof fice at Lyerly, after he had made a rigid investigation, we're in dicted by the federal grand jury Tuesday. The indictments returned charge all five men with the crime, and they will await trial on the bonds they made before Commissioner Printup until the November term. -Tribune-Herald. TRANS Dan Price is indisposed this week. Mr. Jasper Ha nes and daughter spent lasi Sunday near Trion. Messrs. Cleveland Keith and Ed gar Humes made a business trip to Rome last Saturday. Mrs. Cheyne gave her Sunday school class a picnic at Mr. Pe terson ’s mill pond. All report a nice time. Mr. and .Mrs. Luther Hames of Greenbush spent Sunday with Mr and Mrs. Keith. Misses Cleo and Bonnell Rush and Ethel Clement spent last Thursday with Miss Viola Alver son. The many friends of Mrs. Els berry will be sorry to hear that she is no better. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hames spent! last week at Trion and Summer-' ville. Remember next Sunday is ouri regular singing evening "at East Armuchee.
