Jno. D. Taylor and Mr. E. W. Sturdivant made a busi ness trip to Chattanooga Tuesday Mrs. J. R. Pittner and children of Chattanooga are visiting Mrs. J. S. Cleghorn and family. J. M. Smith, superintendent of the Gaylesville Mining Co., at Cedar Bluff, Ala., spent several | days in Summerville this week. I Messrs. G. J. Cochran and Chas j Edmondson went up to Chatta nooga Sunday afternoon, re turning Monday. ' lion. Jno. W. Maddox came up from Rome Thursday to attend the meeting of the stockholders of the Summerville Cotton Mills. .Master Marshall Megginson of I Hot Springs is spending this week with his grandmother, Mrs. Sarah Megginson. Mr. G. W. Dodson, a former res ident of Chattooga, after an ab sence of sixteen years, has re turned from his home in Texas and is visiting relatives and friends here. Air. Dodson is the guest, of his nephew, Col. John Taylor, this week. Air. L. P. Alandeville. a mem ber of the Alandeville Cotton Co., and the Alandeville Cotton Mills of Carrollton, Ga., was a guest of his brother-in-law, Air. E. W. Sturdivant, at the Haw kins House last week. Air. Alan ijdeville was very much pleased with Summerville and will prob ably build him a summer home here by next season. After a long and painful ill ness this excellent woman passed away Friday morning at the home of her daghter, Mrs. B. 11. Edmondson, on Washington street. The funeral services were held Friday afternoon and were con ducted by Rev. J. 0. Brand. Her remains were carried to Shelby ville, Tenn., her former home, for interment. Those who ac companied the body to Shelby ville were Airs. Carrie Williams, Airs. B. 11. Edmondson, Mr. ami Mrs. Wesley Shropshire ami Mr. Chas. Edmondson. Airs. Alarshall was 84 years . old and is survived by two sons, A. L. and J. 1. Marshall, of lloliston, Tex., and four daugh ters, Mrs. B. 11. Edmondson and : Mrs. Wesley Shropshire of Sum l merville; Airs. Annie Scott, of Rome; and Airs. Carrie Alarshall Williams, of Chicago, HI. Samuel, the little son of Air. and Airs. A. S. Hinton, died Sun day morning at Tate, after a - brief but painful illness. His re- - mains were brought here for in- - terment Monday morning. The 1 funeral was from the residence I on Union street, and was largely i attended. Rev. J. (). Brand con- I ducted the service. Little Samuel was an exception ally bright and affectionate child • and will be sadly missed by many i who loved him. !
