A fine highway from Rome to Chattanooga is one thing the Floyd County Automobile Association de termined to work for at a meeting Friday night, says the Rome Tribune- Herald. A committee composed of Walker Shaw, C. E. McLln, and Dr. Geo. B. Smith was appointed as the '"Rome and Chattanooga Road Committee,’ to’ be continued in of fice until the road all the distance from this city to Chattanooga shall be call good. It was the sense of the meeting that the committee secure the co-operation of the Floyd coun ty commissioners in making their overtures to the Chattooga com missioners. The road in Floyd is first class now to Armuchee, and within a short while will be put in good condition to the Chattooga County line. The road from Lafayette to Chattanooga is perfect, and Walker County is now preparing to improve the line from Lafayette southward to the Chattooga line. This will leave . only the ten or fifteen mile link in Chattooga County to be repaired, it is now in very bad shape. The com mittee will appear before the Chat tooga commissioners and will endeav or to get a representative of the ! Floyd board to accompany them. Concerning the proposed highway The Chattanooga Times says: s A first, class road between this city and Rome seems now to bo assur p eu. Frank T. Reynolds, secretary of D the Chamber of Commerce, received notice yesterday of the appointment by the Romo Manufacturers and Mer c chants’ Association of a permanent d committee to devote its time and en r ergy to securing the improvement of the road extending from Summerville, , in Chattooga County to the Floyd 1 ( ounty line. This committee has re r ceived every assurance of coopera tion from the Chattooga County au thorities and work upon the road will be commenced very soon. This is practically the only bad V piece of road between Rome and e Chattanooga ami with the improve- D ment of It there will be a fine high s way between the two points. At J present there is a splendid Govern ) ment pike from Chattanooga to La- Fayette and from the latter town to ’ Summerville the roads are much . better than the average road and reasonably good at all seasons of r the year. The road from Summer ‘ ville to the Floyd County line has ‘ I always been in bad condition and 1 many of the local automobilists as 1 well as others, have come to grief in t Its mudholes and rough places. From the county line to Rome the road is a well-built pike. I The building of the road from ’ Summerville to the county line, a .’ distance of about ten miles, means ,the completion of a good road about ' eighty miles in length entering ’ Chattanooga. and will be another - feather in the good roads cap of - the city. , For indigestion and all stomach trouble take Foley’s Orlno Laxative * as it stimulates the stomach and P liver and regulates the bowels and ' will postlvely cure habitual constipa tion.
