Mr. Fred Edmondson has return
ed to Atlanta after a visit to his
home folks here.
Mr. W. S. Story of Talladega, Ala.,
was the guest of Mr. N. K. Bitting
and family this week.

Miss Martha Bitting will leave
for Decatur, Friday where she will
enter Agnes Scott college the follow
ing week as a pupil.

Mr. Sam B. Henley has returned
to town after a several weeks’ stay
at the Mineral Springs’ Hotel at
I Menlo, and an extended visit to Wes

Capt. C. D. Hill of Lyerly and his
| sister, Mrs. Owens, of Texas, were
i visiting Col. Wesley Shropshire and
Mr. B. H. Edmondson the first of
I this week.
Mr. H. F. Sims has sold his farm
in Dirttown to Messrs. Ira and Jud
son Perry. We are informed that
Mr. Sims will move his family to Sun
merville and place his children in
school here.
Mrs. F. G. Merriam and two chil
dren, Miss Marie and Master Bur
gess Merriam, who have been spend
ing some time with the family of
Mr. J. F. Grambling on Washing
: ton street, returned to their home in
Rome yesterday.
Monday was a most delightful day
Ito a party of young people from
: here who spent that day in Dirt
town at Story’s mill —fishing in the
creek and feasting in the Club House
near by. The party included Misses
Jolly, Bolling, Martin, Hattie Bale
Jones, Fannie and Kate McWhorter,
Mary Penn, and Messrs. Jolly, Edge,
Ed Lee and Eugene Taylor. After
crossing the mountain they were
joined by Miss Grace King of Gore.

Rev. J. O. Brand went over to
Broomtown yesterday to conduct
the funeral of the little five-year
old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John
pry ton, who died Tuesday morning,
after an illness of only a few hours
with membraneous croup. The fu
neral services w r ere held at the res
idence of Mrs. Hamby and the in
terment was in the Garrett cemetery.
I have this day by mutual consent
withdrawn from the firm of the Sum
merville Drug Co., having sold my in
terest to Mr. J. A. Beavers. The
business will be carried on in every
respect as in the past.
