Women Suffer Agonies from Diseased Kidneys And Most Women Do This Not Knowing the Real Cause of their Condition These poor, suffering women have been led to believe that their misery of mind and body is entire ly due to “Illa of their sex.” Usually the kidneys and bladder are re sponsible—or largely so. And in such cases, the kidneys and blad der are the organs, that need and must have attention. Those torturing, enervating sick headaches, dragging pains in back, groin and limbs, bloating and swell ing of the extremities, extreme nervousness or hysteria, listless ness and constant tired, worn-out feeling—are almost certain symp toms of disordered and diseased kidneys, bladder and liver. DeWitt’s Kidney and Bladder Pills have, in thousands of cases, been demonstrated as remarkably beneficial in all such conditions of female organism—affording the most prompt relief and permanent benefit As an Illustration of what these Phis will do, Mrs. P. M. Dray of Columbus, Ga., writes that she was very ill with kidney trouble, and that she is now well—and that these Pills are what cured her. Speaking of divorce, a writer in Munsey’s Magazine says: “Practically 1,000,000 divorces have been granted in the United States within the past twenty years. The exact number, for the years from 1887 to 1906, inclusive, is 945,625, as against 12,832.144 marriages. So far as new marriages are con cerned, therefore, there has been nearly one divorce for every thirteen wedding ceremonies. And out of this appalling total, 20,225 divorces, or not quite one in four, have been is sued on grounds of cruelty. Only one cause has been more productive —desertion —and the total of decrees based upon that charge is 367,502. This ratio has held good in Nevada, and undoubtly holds there sub stantially today.’’ The writer declares that probably seven applications out of every ten filed in Reno can be explained by the applicant’s desire to marry some one else. Atlanta, Ga.—The new state con vict system is no longer an experi ment. Put into operation on April 1, six months ago, it is proving a greater success than its most ardent support , ers had hoped for, and in counties where road work is being done by convicts under the new plan, it is giv ing absolute satiusfaction. No com plaints of its workings have been lodged against it. “The new system is proving a great er success than any of us ever hoped for,” said Captain Wiley Williams of the prison commission, while discuss ing its operation. “1 have visited many counties, great and small, dur ing the past few months and have kept in close touch with the workings of the system, and everywhere I have been the county authorities have ex pressed the greatest satisfaction. Its superiority to the old lease system is being practically demonstrated by the enthusiasm for good roads and the splnedid work being done to biuld i them up. “The skeptical critics of the new : system,” continued Captain Williams, i “prophesied that the idea of putting I convicts in charge of the various | counties and working them upon the roads would prove visionary and ' would result in failure because the ! county authorities who were inexpe rineced in handling convicts would have all sorts of trouble with them. “On the contrary there has been : comparatively little trouble from this source; there have been fewer es capes than anybody anticipated; only two or three of the wardens have been changed because of inexperi ence; the management of the con victs has been entirely satisfactory, i and splendid work has been done in ■ every county where they have been employed. “It was also said that many of the I counties, especially the smaller ones, ! finding failure starting them in the face, would turn their convicts back upon the state and thus seriously han dicap if not completely defeat the workings of the system. On the con trary, we have not been able to sup ply the demand for convicts. As an example County Attorney Willing ham of Monfroe county applied to the commission for fifteen more convicts for Monroe, and the application could not be granted because the convicts were not available. “The new convict system is certain ly no longer an experiment.” C. R, Kluger, the Jeweler, 1060 Virginia Ave., Indianapolis, Ind., writes: "I was so weak from kid ney trouble that I could hardly walk a hundred feet. Four bottles of Fo ley’s Kidney Remedy cleared my complexion, cured my backache and the irregularities disappeared, and I can now attend to business every 1 day and recommend Foley’s Kidney i Remedy to all sufferers, as it cured me after the doctors and other rem edies failed.”—-Sold by all druggists. Frank E. Seagrave, the Providence ' astronomer whose calculations rela tive to Halley’s comet have attract ed world wide attention, announces that correction of a slight error in his calculations has developed the dis covery that on May 19, 1910, the • comet will reach the same plane as I the earth in its orbit. It is thereby : determined that the tail of the comet ' will sweep across this planet instead [of clearing it. The earth and the planet will meet on the same plane, but not on the same path. Mexican Convict Asks a Patent on Wonderful Invention. Alberto Sanchez, and electrical en- ■ ndneer, at present an inmate of Be-: ■ m prison, in Mexico, claims to have] invented an apparatus whereby vis- - sion as well as voice may be trans mitted over an ordinary telephone wire. He calls his invetlon a tele radioption, and the prison officals admit that successful tests have been made with the models. Sanchez, standing in his cell, talked to Gen eral Maas in an adjoining cell. A wall three feet thick seperated the . two, yet each claimed to see the features of the other during the con versation. Sanchez has applied for a patent, and will not divulge the mechanism of his invention until he obtains the same. Those who have seen the contrivance, however, claim that it is most simple in structure, •ookmg like a pair or snort opera THE PURE FOOD LAW. s No More Flour Bleached By Nit rogen Peroxide is to be Sold in Georgia. Atlanta, Ga. —No more flour l ’ bleached by nitrogen perox ide will be allowed sold in Georgia. £ i This order went, into effect in this 1 ; state on Friday. October 1, when ‘ i Commissioner of Agriculture T. G. ’ j Hudson issued the following state ’’ ■ ment: ’ i “Under section 21 of the food and l ' drugs act of Georgia, approved AU -1 ‘ gust 21, 1906, it is required that all i rulings shall be made to conform 1 j with the national *rulings, and in as ! ’ much as the national government p .1 has issued a ruling that flour bleach ' ied by nitrogen peroxide is an ad ill ‘lterated product under the national ' ’ food and drugs act, therefore, it is 5 hereby ruled that the sale of flour ' bleached by nitrogen preoxdie will ' be illegal in the state of Georgia on and after October 1, 1909.” ' Pure Food Inspector P. A. Meth -1 vin will start out on a tour of the state in a few days now to see that. ! this law is rigidly enforced. The '• punishment ofr its violation si dis cretionary with the trial judge, but it is promised any violation will be • severely dealt with. ■ This is another interesting step ' in the strict enforcement of the pure ’ food and drugs act of Georgia, which has done so much to approve the 1 quality o floods, feeds and drugs in this state. Just as the standard of food flour —is being protected under this ruling, so has the standard of feed —cotton seed meal—been protected for the cattle of the state for some time past now. The law governing the amount of protein which all feeds must contain, when sold on the Georgia market, has been set and as a result, that best known and cheap est cattle feed, cotton seed meal, has | come into its own, for according to chemical analysis this feed meas ures up more nearly to the legal, re quirements than any other. The western feed dealers, who formerly dumped any and every thing into this state before the pure food and drug law went into effect, are now entirely shut out, and in order to come within the law are making cotton seed meal one of the principal Ingredients in their mxiod feeds in order to meet the legal re quirements as to the amount of pro tein which must appear in ail feeds. The Georgia law is being rigidly enforced throughout the state, and its good effects are being felt every where.
