Mr. Ed Clowdls has a very sick
child.
Our school at Chattoogaville will
begin next Monday, the 22.. We
have two hundred cards and each pu
pil who enters school will be ex
pected to pay 25 cents for the pur
pose of buying window lights, waler
; buckets, dippers, pans and other ex
peases, such as wood and coal and
' to keep fires.
I Rev. B. I’’. Guille preached at Wal
lnut Grove Sunday. The attendance
i was not so good as usual. The sala
!ry of Mr. Guille is falling short. We

Fred Skeene has paralysis in his
legs. He is now staying with his
uncle, Dr. J. A. Smith, for treatment.
Miss Zoo Weathers was visiting

The weather has been fine tor the
past month and people have made
good use of it gathering up the storm
cotton. Some few have gathered corn
and some few have sowed wheat.
J. A. Mosteller and wife were vis
iting Mrs. C. P. Clowdis Sunday.
Mrs. B. F. Guille accompanied her
husband to Walnut Grove Sunday.
She likes our country fine and thinks
it a lovely place.
I see all papers advocate the good j
roads question for automobiles to
travel through our county. When
the autos get to running regular on
the public* roads it will be danger
'ous for people to attempt to travel
in bug. es and carriages to and from
town. So when they become daily
traveling on the public roads there
will be less going to town by the mass
es. 1 heard a man say last week he
wanted to go to Summerville, but

pension, never have nor never ex
pect to, and am not able to work
but very little, and I think this pres
ent way of taxing people the most
unjust thing that has ever come I
on the people. Then that is not all ,
as the talk is for more and more |
taxes every year; local taxation for
schools, that is unjust on a great
many men who educated their own
