If all between the ages of six and ' eighteen would attend we would need two more teachers, but our general 1 average is about 80, and of course 1 the two teachers can manage them. 1 But to do real good work we should have one more teacher. We have about 200 pupils in the school age. but they don't go to school. Some say they are too far away from the school house, others say they can not spare their children to go to school, and others are not interested in a school. Others say they cannot dress their children so well as the rest of the pupils, while some others wait for a few of the patrons to get all things ready; to keep up the well, the house, to buy coal and stoves, when needed. Some say our school is free and don't want to pay any incidental fee or anything else "1 will send if the trustees and patrons get a teacher that suits me. if not 1 will keep my children at home. Davis spent last Friday in Rome shopping. School opened here Monday under the management of Miss Lucy Cop page of Rome. Miss Alma Kelly will be the assistant teacher. Miss Beatrice Turner of Floyd Springs spent Monday in the Bend. Several of the young people in the Bend attended the singing at Rose dale Sundey.
