BOYS CORN CLUB.
It is time for the corn club boys
of this county to get busy for the
1913 contest. Up to the present
time no specific plans or arrange
ments for the contest have been
perfected* The fine work of the
County Boys Agricul-
last year and in 1911
has both fame and wealth to
the county, and the good work
should be continued with unceas
ing constancy and perseverance.
Chattooga is one of the leading
conr club counties of the state,
not from mere exalted opinion,
but from the fact of conquest and
achievment. Other counties are
eagerly striving to surpass not
alone this county, but this section
of the state, if possible. Are the
boys of this county, for their part,
going to let them? Not if their
patriotism, amitionb, and persever
ance (the essentials of success) are
to be relied upon.
The usefulness of the clubs and
their splendid reward in helping to
materially place the South "-in the
“real corn belt” cannot be too
highly commended, from a pract
ical, educational feature alone. In
each state they have substantially
increased the average yield per
acre and added millions of wealth
to* the state.
The aid and co-operation of all
the school teachers in the county
who can possibly assist in secur
ing members in their respective
schools, is asked, that the work
may be promoted in the best pos
sible manner. The corn club, can
ning and domestic science clubs
etc., all go hand in hand in advanc
ing agriculture in the common
schools to there proper relations,
and the cost of becoming a mem
ber pales into insignificance, com
pared to the benefits received from
them.
The Chattooga club has the dis
tinction of being known as one of
She best, most progressive and
in many respects, second .0 none
of the 139 county clubs in Georgia,
having now many distencti’ e hon
ors, in competition with other clubs
having two or three times the
number of enrolled members. VMfl
