1 Last Appeal for En
rollment In Childrens’
Founders Roll
With April 26 just a few days off,
the btone Mountain Confederate
Monumental association is ending out
its li. al appeal urging the enroll
ment of the children of the south in
ovei whelming numbers on The Chil
iren’s Founders roll of the Cot.fed
erate memorial as a demonstration
of love and devotion to the few te
maining veterans of the gray.
Through the Children’s Fou ders
roll chairman, Mrs. Rogers Winter,
of Atlanta, the following appeal is
being made everywhere.
"Dear Southerners: —Will you help
to make a success of the Memorial
day enrollment of the children of
the south by se. ding in the names
of children everywhere for The Chil
dren’s Founders roll of the Stone
Mountain Confederate memorial?
"The Children’s Founders roll was
Confederate Monumental as oriat on
inaugurated by the Sto e Mountain
q order that the children of the
south might have a share in the
'■arving of the greatest monument
that the world has ever known.
"It provides for the enrollment of
white children under eighteen years
I of age in the great book of memory,
which will occupy the place or honor
in Memorial hall at Stone mountain;
and for the memorialization of Con
federate soldiers whom they wish
a to honor.
“Each child who makes a contri
bution will receive a small bro"ze
medal, designed by Gutzon Borglum,
showing that he is one of the found
er , of the memorial, and later, when
his name has been inscribed in the
great volume of The Children’s
roll, he will receive a certificate
showing the number of the page and
the line on which his name appears.
“One dollar was named as the
children’s contribution because the
association feels that it is imall
enough to enable every child in the
south to have a part in the mem
orial. It also makes it possible for
alb families to enroll the names of
their beloveqf Confederate kinsmen
whether or not they feel that they
can take one of the adult Founders
roll memberships of one thou and
dollars.
“For each ore dollar contributed,
a child can enroll any Confederate
soldier that he wishes to remember
—his grandfather, great grandfa
ther, cousin, uncle or friend.
“One child may enroll as many
names as he likes, provided he sends
in one dollar for each name enrolled.
For each one dollar sent in the
child will receive ore line for him
self and the person he wishes to
memorialize. If he desires to mem
orialize six persons, his contribution
will be six dollars and he will be
given six lines in the book of
ory.
“When there are two or more
children in a family, each child can
I memorialize the same Confederate
b soldier or— as many children are
1 doing—the Confederate kin in both
I branches of the family may be mem
r orialized by dividing the names be-
• tween the children, thus reserving
• the record of both paternal and ma
-1 ternal ancestors and kin.
“Contributions will be received in
, the names of children who are dead
—the same rules governing these
applications as those of living chil
dren.
“Hundreds of children from all
parts of the country have already
enrolled their rames and cards bear
ing their serial numbers have al
ready been issued to them pending
the completion of the medal and the
great book.
“Each child's name will be enroll
ed in the order in which it is re
ceived at the office of the associa
tion.
“Application blanks Will be fur
nished to all persons who desire to
enroll their children; and organiza
tions. also, may secure as many of
the blanks as they need to enroll the
children.
“Names may be sent in through
the mails without thg application
blank.
“Will you help to secure the en
rollme”t of the children in such
overwhelming numbers as to dem
onstrate to the world at large (and
to the veterans of the Confederacy
in particular) that the children of
the south have not forgotten the hi -
tory of the sixties a’d that their
love and devotion belongs forever
to the heroes o f the Lost Cause?
“The book of memory will be the
greatest volume that the world has
ever known, not only because it will
inclose the sentiment of a people’s
heart, carried down to generation
I after generation, but because in ac
tual size it will be the large t volume

Watt the Fly
Electricity is turned to a new use.
Sentence of death has been passed on
the nil too commoon housefly by elec

been designed to receive current from
