The post office department has is
i sued a fraud order against McNickle
and company, of Spring Hill, W. Va.,
] who have made claims for a medi
cinal preparation known as “Psyco
sulphene.” The manufacturers and
distributors of this high-sounding
stuff claim that by putting a “pinch”
of the powder in each shoe of the pa
tient each morning for 72 days a
“cure” would be effective for various
diseases.
The post office department is issu
ing fraud orders every month to pro
tect the public against ruthless

SULL PUFFING AWAY
Nearly 8,000,000,000 cigaretes were
produced in the United States in July
I according to figures made public by

i ing the same period the production of

Cigaretes are being produced at
this time in larger number than they
were a year ago, while there is a cor
.re ponding decrease, in the number of
’cigars that are manufactured.

CONSTITUTION DA Y
While Constitution day, Septem
ber 17, is not a legal holiday it is
observed with appropriate exercises
in many schools, and various patrio
tic societies employ the occasion to
renew acquaintance with the pro
visions of our nation's organic law.
The constitution of the United
States was adopted on September 17,
1787, by the convention appointed in
pursuance of a resolution of con
gress. Washington presided over the
convention, which was composed of
55 delegates, representing each of the
original 13 states except Rhode Is
land, and that body was in session
nearly four months. The final draft
of the constitution was made by
Gouverneur Morris, a delegate from
Pennsylvania.
Deleware was the first stale to
ratify the constitution which it did
on December 7, 1787, and Rhode
Island was the last, its date of ratifi
cation being May 29, 1790.
