LET’S FINISH
THE JOB NOW
That the people of Georgia
are determined to rid the state
of the political machine that for
years has throttled the develop
ment of agriculture, industry
and education was unmistakably
shown by the vote of Wednes
day, September 8.
The anti-machine vote for
governor was divided between
three candidates. Holder polled
the full strength of the machine.
With the undivided strength of
the organization controlled by
the state department of agricul
ture and the state highway, he
received only 158 county unit
votes. Many of the counties
that he carried were by very
small majorities.
In the run-over on October
6th, Mr. Holder will not be run
ning against three men. He will
be pitting his record of misman
agement, waste and extrava
gance in the state highway de
partment against the splendid
business record of just one man

•—Dr. L. G. Hardman.
The one issue in this race will,
be whether or not the people of
Georgia want for their chief ex
ecutive a man with so little busi
ness ability that he attempts to
prove that the $85,000,000.00
he spent in building 600 miles of
hard surface road was money
well spent. Or whether they
want a man of outstanding,
proven business ability who
pledges to the business of the
state the same careful personal
attention that has made his pri
vate business successful.
A vote for Dr. L. G. Hardman
is a vote in favor of good roads,
better schools and the expendi
ture of state money upon a ba
sis that will insure full value for
•very dollar spent.
Dr. Hardman has made no
promises of anj- appointment to
any one. Rejiorts to the contrary
will continue to be circulated.
They are not true, and will not
be true. Don’t believe them.
Let’s finish the job of cleaning
up Georgia. If we don’t do it
now, we will have to start all
over again two years hence.
last’s give to Dr. Hardman the
greatest majority ever given any
candidate for public office.

HARDMAN MANAGER
ISSUES STATEMENT
THANKING BACKERS
Predicting victory for Dr. L. G.
Hardman, candidate for governor in
, the runover primary to be held Octo
ber 6, A. S. Chamlee, his campaign
manager, on Saturday issued the fol
lowing statement:
“Dr. Hardman and his great host
of personal and political friends and
supporters join me in cordially thank
ing the retiring candidates for gov
ernor for their voluntarily proffered
support of Dr. Hardman in the second
primary on October 6.
“There is but one outstanding is
sue involved. That is the restora
tion of Georgia to business adminis
tration in all department, and the
stamping out forever of machine pol
itics, and the control of service de
partment by petty political ringsters
The voice of the people last Wednes
day expressed a fixed determination
to put down machine rule in this
state. It is the one issue that strikes
at the vitals of Georgia, and one that
involves the material welfare of the
people.
"All candidates opposing the,
Brown-Holder machine are agreed.
The volunteer proffer of support;
from those who now retire under our
primary law, unifies this great,
powerful antimachine voice in this)
state. Dr. Hardman will, I am sure,'
sweep the state on Oct. 6.
“All of the voters of Georgia who
feel, as does Dr. Hardman, that this
smashed are urged to stay on the fir
ing line and see that the job is fin
ished for the state’s everlasting wel
fare.
“Every petty machine politician at
the command of this machine will be
placed on picket duty to see that the
will of the people is destroyed and
defied. This must be guarded!
against the soverign people must
not —will not be trampled further.!
They began the job magnificently on
Sept 8. They will finish it just as
magnificently on Oct. 6.

Excess Uric Acid Gives Rise to Man?
Unpleasant Troubles.
AUTHORITIES agree that an ex-
XX cess of uric acid is primarily
due to faulty kidney action. Reten
tion of this toxic material often
makes its presence felt by sore, pain
ful joints, a tired, languid feeling
and, sometimes, toxic backache and
headache. That the kidneys are not
functioning right is often shown by
scanty or burning passage of secre
tions. Thousands assist their kidneys
at such times by the use of Doan’s
Pills — a stimulant diuretic. Doan’s
are recommended by many local peo
